So, does that mean you are all done with fab? Just finish welding, then blow it apart for paint? That would be awesome!

There is still a lot of sheet metal fab to do. Opening up the rear quarters behind the tires some, different dash heater vents. The hood support near the firewall needs to be fabbed a little due to the rear cage bar. As far as Heavy fab, I really can't think of much. A hitch, new c pillar down tubes to the slides. Somehow the shrunk?? Maybe something around the doubler. I lost one support due to exhaust routing. The tire carrier can wait till later. I'll probably run across something else, But really, there isn't much that I haven't fabbed or changed already, so who knows. Hopefully all the stuff works that I built?

The real plan is to finish the the Heavy fab and start to blow it apart. I really want to finish everything completely from the body mounts down. Blasted, painted, proper bolts, torqued..... Basically a running frame/drivetrain with a tub sitting on top of it. Talk about a motivation builder. ;)

BECAUSE STOCK....

:wink1:

Lol, I seen @skunked reply while I was on the roof tearing off shingles. I couldn't reply then, but I had my reply ready in my head for when I got down....

And you stole it..... :tongue1: :haha:

That would be nice for sure.

Just trying to get an idea on the timeline for completion. I know Greg is aiming for BB2018 (he's going to have to HUSSLE!). Think you can be done by then as well?

Great minds think alike lol!

It all comes down to time. But unless I die, I'm beating Greg to the finish line. I'm not going to be the last one of the original crew to be still posting cage nodes and sliding seats...... That's with me not pussing out and doing the paint in-house too. Gonna need a little @ryoken help when that time comes. :saweet:

Lookin good Mike. The first pic of the spindle, it looked huge and like it covered 80% of the tail light...then your other pics showed the scale a lot better. Looks about as compact as you could make it while retaining as much stock bumper as possible! Well done, and i can't wait to see the final swing out tire carrier. :saweet:

Curvy rear end. Have been frightened of the thread title. Afraid you started a new career that involved gyrations and hip thrusts.

But looking good!

It takes a lot of $$$ to build a truck like this..... and Mike is doing whatever it takes. He's earning it $1 at-a-time.... many of those dollars have just a slight scent of vanilla too. :haha:

Next time Mike talks about "swinging a hammer" all day.... you will know what he really means.

It is a very deep subject for our very shallow minds. Amazing how fast we find the gutter in these steads:haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha:,

Thanks Rene. Always like it when you stop by. :waytogo: The carrier will probably wait till after she is all blown apart and put together again.

Lol, You can thank Super Mod -G, for that new thread title. I came in looking for my own thread and couldn't find it by the name. Took me a second to figure out I had been hacked. I still laugh every time I see it. I think he can be the designated thread title guy for me from now on. :smokin2:

No words.................. :haha:

You didn't say that about the pics I sent you. Actually, it was quite the opposite. :D

This place has made me a better man and a worse man all at the same time. Good times. :haha:

Probably not a lot of progress this weekend. I did a little imitation Greg swan dive off a ladder yesterday. Didn't land on my pretty face (thank god) but did land on the side of my ankle from about three feet up. It now looks like a watermelon cut in half placed on both sides of my foot. Sweet. I was cutting rafter tails with a saw and lost my balance. End it up in the driveway. I guess I did the floppy fish from shock. I woke up to my partner laughing at me. What a dick he is. :doah: :haha:

Lol, I just popped in here to look for some pics. Somehow I looked up and seen some new 'Tags" that were never there.

Going by the names of the new tags, I can only assume one person wrote them all.

Well played, Greg, Well played, indeed. :haha::wink1:

How long have they been there?

Heard your man card was up for renewal...

Yeah, it is. I keep getting in the wrong line and it's taking forever to though. :doah: :haha:

I have been working on the rig a bit, but I was going to wait to actually post an update till I had something actually worth showing. A lot of you guys might remember that two winters ago the rig had to sleep outside under a couple of tarps for the duration. Well, now that I'm actually working on the top side of the rig again, all of that rust is staring me right in the face. I've spent the better part of a weekend with some roloc disks and a big fan blowing crud out into the world just trying to get back to bare metal. It's not been a fun job, but 100% my fault. Live and learn. :wink1:

So in between de-rusting I've been making sure all of my tubes are in the correct spots. A couple I had to zip the tack welds and move, but overall, at the time, it looks like I gave this cage a great run for it's money. The goal is to de-rust the thing, get some chase tubes into it for Led's and weld it up. It would be such a huge marker getting this thing out of the back of the tub.

Not much to show, but on with the pics. :waytogo:

Drinking a beer with my neighbor last week and talking about the cage plans and the chase tube I'd need to acquire for the weekend, all of a sudden he took off for a second and came back with some fuel line he was going to install in his rig. We both thought it might work out awesome.

So the next morning I got on my summer welding gear on and headed on out. :D

Kicked the rig into the Cali lean to give me some more room and started cleaning tubes, removing seats....blah, blah.

I did a little mock up of the fuel line inside a tube and gave her some fatty welds to make sure it wasn't going to melt or distort and become useless for a chase tube down the road.

It turned out perfect. No distortion at all and the line actually still slipped back and forth in it's homes. Cool. :saweet:

Next was to start on the back.

All ended up working great, I'm happy to say.

The rest were just some pics as I cleaned up the cage moving forward. Hopefully this weekend I can get my front chase tube in the A tube and weld up the entire cage. That would be huge. :pimp:

5 Lights will go in this area. 4 small ones ( two white and two green or UV or something) will go in the small rectangle area and one 16" strip light will go on the bottom of the tub to illuminate the back portion of the bed. I'd really like to figure out how to do three way switches for some of these.

That's all I have for now. The guys are hear and It's time to make make some money. flagwaver
