So in my never ending quest to make your life more difficult. I would add a gusset below the light at an angle to tie it all in.

Look at it and you'll see what I mean

That's a nice bit of fab dude.
 
You didn't section in a piece of tube to get that radius around the edge did you? I bet you did since the other alternative would be even more crazy (i.e. Impressive). Nice fabrication!:pimp:

And here it is......I seen what you are talking about last night while I was grilling. Even called in the guys that were drinking a couple of beers in the driveway still. I drew a blue line last night with with the speed square to show what line I should have followed. It turns out there wasn't enough room to do that, so adding a gusset came into the discussion. I think, maybe adding something small would only magnify the lines. Ran out a took a couple of pics this morning for this quote.

Thanks Brian. :waytogo: Nah, it's just a small curved section of 1.25 that I cut in half. I tried to make it as small as possible, but the 1" tube wouldn't have given me enough internal room for the lights.

Ever since I fell walking that beam and broke my wrist, it doesn't bend like it should anymore. I need to "walk" on my fist now installing base and flooring. Some pretty crazy looking calluses, huh. Lol

Thanks for the props, Deaner. I hope your kid didn't steal all of your Neers. :) lol
 
Glad to see you getting in some truck time Mike. You've always had great ideas and I think this is one of them. Tons of effort, but the results are sweet. I like.

Hopefully this is the start of a trend and you get to push towards completion again.

John......If you're swingin' a 32oz framer, you sir are no man to be messed with. My sweet 16 gets the elbow pumping some days. :surepal:

Hopefully get some time in this afternoon for the rig. Need to knock out a small texture job then run over to my partners to grab the hillbilly camping trailer for this weekend. After that, it's all about flip flops, beers and welding. Good times. :saweet: :D
 
DEfinitely looks like it Belongs there. I've been Contenplating how to run lights in my 72. Not sure how I want that to go. I just found a old harness I pulled from a junkyard truck that I believe is a stock under dash harness controlled by the light switch that I'm putting in today. At least I'll have under dash lights at that point. I only have a roll bar but if I ever do a full family cage I'd be looking at running something much simpler. My skill with the steel ain't that great. My truck is decently repaired from 20 feet away. Haha. At least I got rid a lot of the rust. Much more hidden I'm sure but my truck Will never be perfect unless I win the lottery.
 
Ha, there are two or each up there. One white, one green. In the end there will be four of each all on dimmers.

Wait till you see the bar light that goes over the cargo area. It's not exactly what I wanted, but until I can find the one I had seen six months ago when I was looking for cage lights, it will have to do.

Maybe you guys can help my search? I'll post up a pic of it.
 
Here is an example of the one that I bought just to see how it would look. I had the one that would be perfect for this position on the underside of the bar saved on my old computer, but I lost everything when it died. Since then, I probably have like 20 hours looking for the damn thing with no luck...:doah:



This on does all kinds of stupid patterns and all the colors under the rainbow, but it's pretty low budget and doesn't look the way I'd like.









Here is the look that I'm going for. The one that I had seen, there was a place for two screws on each end. Almost like a sleek, waterproof under cabinet light. It can be up to 18"s long.



If all else fails, maybe I can make a metal shroud for these and mount one up in each corner to light up the cargo area? I want these to run off a dimmer switch just inside the box side of the C pillar so I could flip it on while unloading and tailgating type times. I think that would way cool. Preferably in warm white and green.



If anybody finds something like that and one day we meet up somehow.....I'll share some of my cookies with you. :pimp:
