If I’d have called it Schlitzer Bomb you’d have gotten it?

See, that makes me think of the time I carried a backpack full of warm Shlitz Malt Liquor bouncing from town to town in Italy one weekend. I’m sure I left some bombs behind after swiggin’ that nectar all weekend. Ouch.. :doah::rotfl:

Ya, gotta dig mid week progress. :waytogo:

Finished a bathroom remodel today a little early, so I snuck into the garage for some quality time with the drill press. It’s super cool that I was able to finish the second side and add the drain holes on both. I’m stuck in a classroom for the next two days getting certified for Schluter shower systems and I won’t see the garage till this weekend, probably. But, this weekend I can jump right on the front part of the skid, where it has an indentation over the axle. I’m pretty sure that will eat up a lot of time to bend that all in and get it all nice looking.

Pretty stoked how this is turning out so far. :pimp:

Progress is progress and I’m making some. :wink1:

You need a swag plasma circle tool. Why waste all that time in the drill press when you could have made those circles in 30 seconds with the plasma.

I find it hard to believe that the cut quality would be anywhere near as crisp... especially if you start at the edge of the circle, the initial blowthrough is going to leave an ugly crater. You could go back afterwards with a cylindrical flapwheel to clean up the interior holes I suppose, but at that point it doesn't seem like much of a time saver. :dunno:

This is all theoretical of-course, I doubt I can even remember which end of a plasma torch to use.

I contemplated this also while he was at it. I usually scroll in to the cut to keep the edge clean.

But its hard to argue with the final product

15 seconds with a 1/4 drillbit for starting if you don't want the blow through. Also if you are making a full circle just start in the discarded area.

...plus the cleanup time on the textured cut inside the circle from the plasma. :)

I couldn't do it, the look of a perfectly cut circle with an annular cutter and it's perfect 90* edges make me feel all happy inside.

(This is why I still have another 10 years left on my own build)

I hear ya, Jess. It would have taken little to no time with the plasma. I think I have about an hour per side just punching the holes. The actual cutting with the skinny wheel only took about 10 minutes. I used the side of the speed square as a guide for the blade to cut from hole to hole.

As it sits, I still have probably a 1/2 hour each left on cleaning the inside of the holes, but I’m going to wait until I get them fully welded and then get the splatter clean up and final insides at that time.

Sitting there doing the mindless drilling, your mind wonders. I thought about making a jig for the plasma, but there’s a half hour, just in the jig making. Then the cleanup of the interior striations would have taken hours, for me at least. Plus making sure the torch would be 100 perpendicular to the metal around the jig, probably wouldn’t happen. Again, at least for me. I just don’t think it would have came out as nice. Now if I had a table like Adam, this would have taken 30 seconds, but for what I do, I’ll never have one. I’d rather spend the cash on woodworking tools to speed up my days.

It is 20 bucks and well worth the money.

I’ve been working on just cleaning some shit up around the house. Office, yard, storage area and garage are all looking good and better yet, feeling good.

I’m ready to tear some shit up again on the rig. Pretty excited about this upcoming weekend to get back out there.

Thanks man.

Picked up the box a couple years ago. I really dig it. It’s fast........ due to color. :)

I had to literally scrape the floors with one of my floor scrapers. Years of metal dust and a little water turned into mortar patties under stuff. Crazy.

Damn excited to see ya in April, Brother. Been too long. ;)
