Like clear coat?

Huh? I just got all the grease and grime off of it this morning. I think Greg must have painted it before it was rebuilt. It was tons easier than the cases. One more session and it should be ready for some spray bomb action, too.

Your mission for tomorrow is to flip that trans over and drill the flange for a thick converter cover.

Show me how and what, I’ll make it happen if that’s what the kool kids do.

No... Sunday I realized the beer fridge doesn’t help with this phase so far. Lol

I like this stuff because it ties everything together.

This link is just an example, it's over priced and should be available cheap at a u-pull-it.

On my th400, I turned it over (no fluid yet) and clamped the cover on to mark the holes and then drilled them. Transmissions that came with a thick cover are drilled and tapped but I just used longer bolts with nuts. The thick cover helps to improve case strength, as well as, giving you the option of installing the motor mount support bars (see below).

Again, way overpriced but good example pics. These bars bolt to the threaded bosses on the converter cover and the go to the triangular plates that are sandwiched between the motor mounts and block. I'm using ORD motor mounts so I trimmed the plates and put them outside of the bloc motor mount bracket, works great.

I do.
I was going to say but decided to keep reading and sure enough you knew to ask

Oh, I know better. Lol

I’ll give ya a call about it.

Fun fact.... I was talking to Greg after you and Zim where up here. He mentioned the engine that we all took a pic around. As things go... that it the 454 block that Greg bought from you umpteen years ago to later turn it into the 496. I thought it was pretty cool.
