Yeah, they're on the way. It's only 7:30 right now... And I'm unemployed! Suck it:flipoff: :haha:

Mike,

39-1/4" to the underside of the frame is an enormous number! :yikes:

My own setup is 26".... A full 13 inches closer to the ground with the same tire size (38")

Are you going to be able to get that beastie out of the garage? Mine is realllly close to hitting the door header, though admittedly I have standard height doors.

I am starting to get concerned about the overall lift....that moves your COG really high, a lot higher than I originally thought it would be. You're really going to notice all that lift in side hill situations.

Generally, builders will set the frame height on jack stands at the very beginning of the build process, then roll the axles/wheels/tires underneath and see where your suspension needs to be. In your case, it would be very interesting to do that exercise (pull the springs out temporarily). I'd be curious to hear what sort of driveline angles you would end up with with a more modest frame height...

Even if you went to 30" frame height (still very aggressive IMHO) your angles will be dramatically better than what you're getting now.

That picture of you rig is awesome. Was itching to see where you were at with it. Glad you posted it!

Don't you worry, Jacob. I can pic whore with the best of them. :haha: This point that I'm at, with the drivelines and stuff, is kinda boring as far as the pics go. But, I got a couple more for ya today. :pimp:

Greg,

Sorry, Huge Typo :doah:

I'm really sitting at 29 1/4". Between that text between you and I last week of your 26" and Sean's 31+", I thought that I should be right in there when I'm done. If the springs relax just a bit, I think that I'll be at 28" or so. But then, I'm still going to put in the zero rates to move the axles so I think this is very close to where she is going to sit. Getting pretty excited about this. I know that I have another year on the rig. Next week will be two years for this thread, but I started a little earlier before sacking up and posting here.

You're right though, if I was sitting that tall, I might as well put spinners and low pro's and head to the mall with it. It would be completely useless for what I want to do with it.

Sometimes is just sucks though. You get all excited of your menial accomplishments on the rig, then you read stuff like this, and it's pretty scary and frustrating. This is just two woods down from me. If I finish this and I have no place to go, I'll just use it on the Capitol steps, I guess.

Shackle, Granted there is a couple of pounds off at the moment. The hoist has some and I took off the front clip, but it really doesn't move much.

OK..... I'm calm now. As you were grasshopper. :)

BTW -> That is a seriously beefy throttle linkage you've got there!

Cool, I was reading this on my phone before I left the house this morning and I thought I had really screwed up. Then I realized where I went wrong.

I might as well use that as the throttle linkage. I ordered it from Summit last year and it literally fell apart in my hand. There is a drill bit held on by tape acting as the handle now. I love buying crap...

Sweet, forged stroker crank and roller cam with infinite mileage!

Does that thing have to pass emissions being a 69 vehicle or how does that work for you there? What are you doing for induction?

We are good to go with anything older than 75 here. Full verts FTMFW :D

As far as the induction. I'm going with the K.I.S.S. rule here. I'm not that smart on all of the EFI, TBI, MPFI type stuff. So, the plan is to get a quad from either SMI or Jet. Maybe down the road when I work out all of the other kinks and am truly bored and done enough research I'll try that conquest too.

Until then, it will be a fire breathing, carbed, 496... :woot:

Or you could run the self-tuning awesomeness that is FAST...just saying:whistle:

I can't wait until I get to put the new 383 with FAST TPI in mine. It's gonna run so much better!

Yeah, I hear ya. 2k is just not in the budget though. I figure $500 for the carb and I'm running down the road. I still need to find somewhere between 10-12k just to finish this thing. Maybe even more...

Short list
HAD-DS's 2k
Ron Davis - 1100.00
Carb - 500.00
Tires -1800.00
Paint Mats -2k
Seats -1300.00
Cluster -600.00
Liner -800.00

Plus all of the other stuff $$$$

Later
Winch----
Bumpers----
Lockers (I have a detroit now)

You get the idea.....

Well if that's the case you could probably unleash some major ponies in that thing by just changing the cam. All the awesome parts in that engine are bottlenecked by that little EFI cam. Since it's a roller you wouldn't need new lifters, and depending on the springs those might be fine too (I'm not talking huge cam), but something a little more aggressive might add approaching 100 hp while still having a nice torque curve. You'd just have to make sure the springs are good, which most hydraulic roller springs are pretty close because the seat pressure and total pressure can't be too high or it will collapse the plunger.

Oh, and by the way, that looks like a Holley flange on that intake, the EZ-EFI would bolt right on! It works great on stroked big blocks, really!

Awesome build, I always look forward to checking out the progress.
