Shoot I look awesome and pretty much always need the wider seats.

Look around to see if you can find somewhere that carries those seats or ask on some boards and see if you can actually sit in them first.

Its something you gotta live with for a very long time. I have sat in some seats that I thought would be awesome that just did not fit my right.

For me it seems like the Corbeau baja ultras are the way to go. With the PRP being a close second, I thought I would like the twisted stitch seat but they don't fit me good for some reason. Beards are the same way just don't quite fit me right. I have been looking for seats for quite a while :D:D

Also I think any modern looking seat kind of looks out of place in a 1st gen but its way more about comfort and really safety than what looks right.

What so ya think of these in a 1st gen. Good, bad.... go kick my own ass???:haha:

In my best Joe Pesci voice..." I'm going with option B....kicking YOUR ass and collecting two-hundred dollahs....". :D

I think the upper part of the seat is just too wide visually, and that's the part that sticks out above the top of the door edge and bedsides when you view the truck from a distance. They make seats called a Baja bucket (or something like that) which is more reminiscent of the original low back seat the truck came with.

Either way, I agree that you should try to find a place to sit in a few of these to see how comfortable they really are... a poorly-fitting seat will ruin your driving experience every time you head out. It's worth the extra effort to find something you REALLY like.

Good point Heath. I'll check it out. :waytogo:

With that water neck and initial start up... would you run the stat? I seems to me that you wouldn't want to. This would let the water flow from start up and it might be easier to see a leak.. Don't know, just thinking.

I usually run a stat because I don't want to let it leak when I unbolt it to put the stat back in, but you don't have to run it, it will just take a lot longer to warm up. However, one trick to prevent any startup issues is, let the stat be the last thing you put on AFTER you fill the coolant all the way to the level just below the stat. Every so often on firing a new engine you well get air trapped under the stat, and then it takes forever to open because the liquid isn't in contact with it and the engine will actually get really hot before it opens. So if you fill the engine with coolant through the stat hole in the intake, until it is settled at that height, then bolt the stat housing on and hook up the upper radiator hose, then top it off, you are definitely good to go.

Also, make sure you hook up a little bypass hose between the intake and the water pump, big blocks don't have an internal bypass and they need that to keep the water flowing internally when the thermostat is closed.

:haha::haha:

just about lost my drink on that one! hehe

I just about did the same thing when I read about Big Pappa's boyish figure...:haha:

I'm with you guys on the newer seats in the 1st gen. I guess I just wanted to hear it. I showed my boy (13) the pic last week and he even said, "you're putting racing seats in the blazer???". He didn't come right out and say it, but I knew that he didn't approve.

Awesome info, Heath. That is exactly what I'll do. We still need to go over all of the little holes in the top of the intake. I looks like one is for the temp sender unit, not sure on the other though.

I really need to order up the hoses for this thing today. I really want to start it this weekend, but will not rush it.

Hoses needed:

Upper and lower
From a gas can to the pump.
From the pump to the filter
From the filter to the carb
From the water pump to manifold.

Would you guys run -8an or -6?

Also, can I just cap off all of the carb air lines? Will it run correctly like that?

Need to buy an adapter to go from the RPM air gap to a quad too.

So many things.....:doah:

Can I just run two breather caps for now on the VC's?? I was looking at Zim's and that is one complicated system that he had/has on his??

What am I missing in all of my nOObishness glory??

Thank You All.. I promise I'll buy you guys plenty of beer at the next BB for the help..:waytogo:

Thank ya, Sir. :waytogo:

They became a pretty huge part of the entire cage, slider, doubler mount. I just hope that all still fits after the welding.

either is fine for that engine. -8 can't hurt but -6 is plenty. If you were revving it to 7k and making 700 hp that would be a different story.

Yes you can, but I would run vacuum advance if you can, it may run cooler for breakin.

This is a good one, bolts right on...

I would run one breather cap, and one PCV valve on the other side, doesn't matter which side.

let er rip!

I'm with -G on the seat issue. They look like nice seats but first gens with original style seats is where it's at. IMO

Not sure If I'm going to go with the stockers?

I did find these last night and they look way better than the overpriced ones that you can get from Poly P.

A couple of those under the front seat, mounted to the seat bars would be nice. That way the wife and kids can drive this.

one thing to keep in mind is how you are going to access the rear seat(s). if you are still planning some sort of flip forward, you'll need to get a pretty low back passenger seat or it will contact the windshield frame before it can get forward enough to be out of the way.

I just checked and your dash has been delivered. Let me know if you need anything else mike.

Yep, wife said that it was dropped off today. If I could only get off of work to go see it.

Thanks a lot JJ.

Pretty friggin cool, JJ. This is a far as I got tonight putting it together, but it's still worth a pic.

Thanks for the awesome deal and a little swag to boot. :waytogo:
