lol, well obviously "over the top amount" is a matter of opinion. I just prefer to keep it as clean as possible.

I was just looking back through your pics (a bit) and I would put your overhead design in my truck (please?!? :) ).

I meant more trucks that have a spiderweb of tubs overhead. It seems to me that if you feel you need that much tub, you probably shouldn't be using a convertible in the first place.

(please?!? :) ).

.

Bring beer (a lot) and tube (a lot).... :haha:

I know what you are talking about. There is a super fine line between form and function. I'll admit that there maybe 1 or possibly 2, tubes on my rig that are more there for looks than anything.

That's the big behind the scene talks with Eric that I have a couple times a week. I really don't want anymore tube in the cage. He went over it last week and kinda gave me the go-ahead on not building an "x" behind the seats.

I want it safe, but not a damn jungle jim for everyone to crawl around to get to a seat.

exactly! I like your ideas about putting disconnects on the tubs running across the passenger area. I don't know why more people haven't thought of that. :doah:
99% of the time when driving it it will be complete overkill, but then you'll have the option of dropping a bar or 2 back into place for added protection if you're going to get crazy. I like it.

Good progress Mike!
I think you need some sort of consol... I hate not having a place for my right arm. :dunno:

you still doing good with the no smoking??

Oh, it will have something for the arm, don't worry about that. I'll still build a box for storage that will have cupholders and whatnot between the seats. I was going to elongate that all the way up to the dash though. Kinda like my dmax or a sports car. Those tubes that kinda bend up, will pretty much be cut off at the bend. I'll build something in the remaining footprint of the tube.

Still good on the smokes. The 13th of this month will 60 some days. Pretty cool. :thumb:

Oh yeah I was going to mention "cup" holders!:haha:

And awesome for you with the smoking!!
So jealous! I guess I can't quit if I don't try.... :doah:

Thanks Guys. It is pretty cool to be able to breath. :D

Don't worry Dean. She will have cup holders. :waytogo:

Still waiting on a couple of things before I can go forward with the console, so I moved on to the back seat area.

The goal was to get the zero rates installed, shocks, rear seat and more tube.

Out of that list, the zero rates are installed. :doah: A lot of head scratching followed the other projects throughout the day on Sunday.

Still don't really have a good plan on how to get everything "tubed" up and installed. Spent a good amount of time just throwing stuff at the shock, seat, cage area and really came up with nothing so far.

It will come, just didn't this weekend. :dunno:

Pic time.

Starting with this...

and this

and some new 14"ers..

Holes were cut

To give me this..

With a clearance of this...

Bars were bent...

To clear these..

and I ended up with this. Pretty much the rest of the pics were just to give me ideas that I have yet to come up with.

Sean type fancy shot.

and that's where we left it sit.

How's your rear seat going to mount with the new addition in back? Any worry about head room?

The rear seat is going to be installed just in front of the shocks. I'm guessing, but I think that I moved the seat forward maybe 2 inches. Plenty of leg room with a little more room in the back for stuff.

Just how I was going to install it had my mind going the last few days, though. I spent some time in there last night playing with my new brown Santa stuff and I think that I have a plan to tie it all in and still keep it low. No matter what, it will sit lower than the stock one that the cage was configured too.

Couple new toys that showed up yesterday.

Winters Shifter with the standard gate. Also had Wide open design throw in their mount just to see how it worked.

Lokar E-brake

and 10 TMR disconnects. These thing are just plain awesome. The first order that got from RuffStuff had the bolt heads all on one side, the second order had them on opposite sides and they couldn't get them any more of the originals.

Old Vs. New

This feels so right where it is..

Hopefully this weekend I can find some time to bend some tube and see if some of this stuff will work out.

$100 says you were sitting in that seat making vroom vroom noises and pretending to bang shift that new setup.

-G

Lol.. That was actually a friend sitting in the seat while I took a look at the height...

After he left, I shut the garage door, popped a beer, turned up the tunes, hopped in the seat and made vroom, vroom noises all by myself where no one could see me.

I try not let everyone know I'm an idiot...:doah: :haha:

vroom vroom

I think we all might be guilty of vrooming from time to time.:D

your cage is looking great:thumb:, i think i might steal a few ideas for mine.

Just a bunch of big kids with big trucks, right..:pimp:

Thanks on the cage comment. Steal away. Some better pics around post 1008 where she is out of the garage.

Wow, don't know how I missed those pics, but looks great and sounds awesome on that clip

Nice progress and great tube work!! I would put in and take out your tranny tunnel cover a few times before you get to the final product on caging near the cover and shifter.

I just about flubbed that one up. Also look at how you are going to box in the triple sticks.

I have same shifter but with reverse pattern and love it. On the rear seat mounting DIY4X tube rings made it easy to cage mount the rear seat and you can rotate them to keep the seat low.

Those TMR disconnects look nice. What size bolts do they use?

They are super nice with a 3/8's bolt.

Thank ya, Sir. The tunnel should be a lot easier now that I'm not going with the super console. Getting around the triple sticks looks like it is going to be fun though.

Cool on the tube rings. I used them on the front shocks and they made it pretty easy. Don't think that I'll have room for the rear seat though.

This weekends progress....

Doesn't look like a lot, but it sure did take a long time. Didn't even get anything on the center tube or gussets tacked in by the time I was out of gas last night. Still need give a little more love to the gussets, especially the passenger side to make them symmetrical, but all in all, I'm happy with the final product and fit.

Started with the 1.5 and bent it up.

Came out nice after the notches.

Running with the same angle of the shocks.

Then added some gussets with Speeeeed Holes. :D

Took a little too much off the bottom of this one around the tube. :doah: She still should be good for a weld though.

And the pass side.

Some double shear plates on the back side. I had to make these different from the front so I could remove the remote resi.

Both front and back on.

The back tie in.

And a sweet shot on how far these sliders move the seats up. Should make it very nice for loading cargo or passengers.

I should be able to work on the rest of the back tubes, harness tubes, seat mounts and everything else now that the shocks are in later this week.
