ok guys its been a while, i was mobbing my 1990 2wd suburban and after i noticed my tires were angled in like so /--\ so my buddy told my it was the upper a-arms so i replaced those with new ones and it still is angled. could it be the shims? would i need more shims, or could it be a ball joint
? can someone please help me out im going through tires like crazy

You can check 2WD balljoints just as you do 4WD's.

Jack the truck up -- in this case you can lift just the corner by the lower arm.

Grab the tire at 12 and 6 (top and bottom); if you can feel any rocking back and forth, you need new ball joints.

In theory the shims are for an original adjustment and shouldn't be required -- they're not a wear item. It's been a while since I've been in there, but there should be bushings on the arms, right, which if worn or cracked, would throw things off. Could also be that the springs are totally beat; did you drop in a Detroit Diesel or something that's way heavier than the springs were meant for?

Last option, of course, is to take it to an alignment shop...

thanks man ill try those out, and no its a 350 but i just jumped it and hir front end really hard lol:mad:

The tie rod is what connects to the spindle and the centerlink is what connects both tie rods in "the center". Basically you have 2 outer tie rods (one on each side) and 2 inner tie rods (at opposite ends of the outer) and the centerlink is what connects the inner tie rod at each end.

alright, will an alignment help?

Well, the toe adjustment is what got affected by bent parts so yes an alignment would fix it BUT you will still have bent/damaged parts on the rig and that's assuming the alignment shop doesn't tell you to replace the parts first. Regardless if you replace the part(s) or not an aligment is going to need to be done.

I had a '95 k1500 that came into me with that problem. He had a BENT ball joint. I have only seen them broke or not broke or wore out. Never seen one bent till this one. Also if you ride height is lowered it will make your camber negative.
