Wishing I was in Baltimore
I just talked to Kert about a A-Bomb and his suggestion was to get the brotherhood to post up some pics to see how much I may need to cut off the grill support.

I am going to order one of these and I want to use Warn's 16.5 ti winch. I need to see how much if the metal below the grill I'll need to cut off and he said the 12 K series are just about the same dimensions.

Help me out brotherhood......you're my only hope!:D

I have one for a '74 K5 chassis but I'm planning on an S-10 body, so the winch won't be any factor of hitting anything at all since the grille will be sitting far behind the winch.

Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping to get pics from someone on here with some detail. I searched, but I've only found pics with the 8274. Whoever that was, they had to cut the grill all to pieces.....which I'm trying to avoid.:D

Matt's is the A-Bomb but is a bit customized with quad shackle mounts rather than the two that Cheyenne is looking to buy. That's why it looks so tall from the front.

You could always install a body lift to raise the body up to clear the winch if needed.

John (nvrenuf) is another who has the A-Bomb on his '91 K5. He has a buildup here somewhere.

I dont have the a-bomb but I do have the bumper center and b-52s (so basically the same thing) I have a warn xd9000i mounted feet forward. Im at work so I can post pics, but check out my build thread towards the end I have pics of the bumper mounted and what I had to trim. I trimmed some of the frame on the passenger side and I trimmed some of the rad support, though I may need to trim a little more.

Alright I guess school me. What's the difference in the a bomb and regular center. LOL I can't figure it out

iirc, A-bomb is just what Kert named one of his bumper centers...

I just call mine a bumper center, only difference being my B-52's are incorporated and the skid is removable.. tho I guess once I add tube off it, it would just become a bumper.. :wink1::haha:

Ok that's what I thought but I wanted to make sure

Close,

Actually, the a bomb was the first Bumper center/B52. Named by one of the members on here.

I do have both the bumper center and B52's but they're not built together. Mine is built for an 8274 that's recessed into the grille.

Here are a couple pics. I actually cut a lot off of my mine. The grill and the support. It was made for the 8274 and is recessed a lot into the grill.
