help , please ...does any one have a pic of their a/c mounting bracket with headers?? i recently put header on my 83 k5 and had to modify the stock a/c bracket.....which originally bolted to the manifold stud and also to the power steering brackets..(three pieces in all) but i 'm sure i didnt do it right ...lol!!!! the belt will stay on but keeps twisting as the pullys are not lined up perfectly!! so i need pics of either modified stock brackets or aftermarket ones that will work.it's the newer style short a/c compressor if that is of any help..........thanks

I had to modify mine, ill try to get a pic tomorrow. But you have to reuse the old bolt, it has a space built into it so it will keep the a/c and p/s brackets aligned and spaced properly. If you tried to use any other bolt, that could be the issue. Also there is a bolt on the small slender P/S bracket that goes to the block itself and then another bolt from the bracket to the pump that you cant see and then you have the upper a/c bolt and one long bolt with a wide spacer that goes into the a/c compressor.

THe only part of the bracket I modified was the bolt hole that went to the inside header bolt, I just cut a lil bit off so the bracket would go over the header. looks like crap but works. lol

thanks man .........a pic would be great so i can see how to properly modify it .....i can pick up another stock bracket from a junkyard , cause i am sure i did mine wrong

Well, as your looking at the drivers side engine, like your standing at the fender. I just chopped off the RIGHT side of the bracket, the part closest to the firewall just enuff to clear the header. I didnt cut up into the part you hook a chain at to hook to an engine hoist. LIke I said, ill get a pic tomorrow.

Did you reuse the old bolt/stud when you put that bracket it? If not, that is more than likely the problem and if you can get another one, itll work.

It is like a jigsaw puzzle though. Hard to explain, a major PITA. lol
