My A/C compressor has bit the dust on my 1987 K5. I need to replace it, and was wondering if anyone has done the same....the prices on compressors are above $200, and need to probably replace the receiver/dryer at the same time. Since my truck has R12, this could be quite an expense. I am considering going to R134. Does anyone have any advice on Compressor sources and Freon??

Thanks!
Danny

$200?!!! Is that the gold plated compressor? I paid about $80 for mine at Autozone. The dryer was about $15. I upgraded to stuff called Freeze12, you need a license for it but it is cheaper than R134 and the molecules are not as small, so you do not have to convert the rest of the system over. It is a direct rteplacement for R12.

Good lord. The rod up that man's butt must have a rod up it's butt.
