Hello everyone! Looking for some answers for ac fittings. I am currently replacing my 350 with a mild built 400sbc. I currently have an vbelt style R4 ac compressor. When I swap the motor I will be putting an sanden 4440 ac pump. the serpentine system is from a 1996-up 1500 Silverado. if anyone has already done this swap any info is greatly appreciated. just to be clear I am talking about the manifold that bolts to the ac compressor. and yes i know the lines come into these pumps at a different angle but i should be able to message the lines a bit to fit. I don't have the luxury of running out to the truck and looking at things because its parked up north for the winter in a barn while i do the swap. thank you in advance for any info.

That compressor is designed to replace the HT6, not the R4. The lines are attached horizontal on top and not at the rear vertical like yours.

Yes you are correct. But I am putting a serpentine system on my 400sbc that is from a 1996-up Silverado. Which would have had an ht6 compressor. The ht6 I have is junk so that is why I am buying a sanden compressor. I understand which compressors go on which trucks. Just wanted to know if the lines from an r4 compressor would bolt to an ht6 or sanden 4440 compressor. For instance is the manifold size and shape the same.? Thank you for to info.

dirty dingo sells a rear manifold for the sanden compresser thas has the R4 ports on it. if you want to keep the original A/C lines.

Is you present air compressor on the drivers side?

So is there a way to order a sanden compressor with the head that allow r4 lines to bolt to it instead of buying a conversion head like the one from dirty dingo? https://atc.ca/wp-content/uploads/Sanden_Compressors.pdf
This is the link to all the sanden compressor and head type part numbers.and here is a link to all the r4 compressors and head types.

I just don’t know what head type I have.

here is a video of a barn find 86 k30 all original. At 9:43 exactly u can see the model# 1131434 and co# 072351 on an r4 compressor. I will do some research to figure out head type and if sanden makes a compressor that will fit. Some people are probably wondering why I’m doing this instead of just buying an adapter. Because if I can find a stock compressor from sanden that will be a cross over compressor and I can get that model number anyone that is doing a serpentine conversion or swap of any kind can use stock lines with a new compressor.

That would be the correct model for that period. The 1996 and up engines came with the HT-6, which bolts on with 4 bolts from the top. If stock form it is called the belly leaker as it has seam in the middle. I am using the Sanden version of HT-6 with the universal treaded mount and changing hose end to make it work.

The serpentine mount I have bolts the compressor in from the top. The wall I have run into is I don't know if my lines are the O-ring style or the washer style. The second wall I have run into is should I get an sd5 or sd7 compressor. either way I guess the answer is whichever compressor I buy I will just have to buy the proper head. I was hoping I could find the compressor model number that would have the right head already attached. What year is your k5? and what style do you have? washer or O-ring? From what i have found on the internet the older style is the o-ring style.

All the the line fitting on my 85 are O ring type(R12 standard thicker than r134) and the compressor uses washers to seal the adapter. I have redone all my hoses and I have rear air. I am using the 96 up serpentine setup, with a sanden type compressor. It uses the same attachment as the original compressor. I adapted to the 8 and 10 an adapter.

Yeah I’d like to see it. What motor motor are you putting in? I am replacing my 350 with a 400sbc 817 casting. It has Keith black pistons and a xe262 Comp cam as well as world products sr torquer heads and an edelbrok performer intake and Holley 750 carb.

350 4bolt crate motor, comp cams roller, GM stock roller lifter, roller rocker, Edlebrook heads (60cc) and original Edlebrook port injection with TBI throttle body. Will get you a picture of AC compressor, adapter and connections a little later. Since I live in calif., no Proflo allowed.

That motor is gonna be a monster. Have you ever thought of getting a 454 tbi throttle body to get more air fuel?
