I noticed that the defrost duct opening at the bottom is about 1/2 an inch away from the box that bolts to the firewall. Is there any way to adjust either part?

I have the same issue. Some of it can be loosened and moved, but not much. I used Duct tape to close it off.
You passed on an opportunity to use Duct tape for its intended purpose!?!
Thats funny. Never thought about that. But it is duct tape. Good stuff too!

Gorilla Tape! Now that's some good stuff. It even holds up to the garbage truck guys.
