I have a strong knowledge of A/C knowledge. but I did have Mechanic work on this. I replaced almost everything.
Evaporator, Parallel Flow Condenser, Accumulator, Orfacice tube, Fan clutch, Added condenser fans, blower motor and Fan. But the mechanic drove it around town for awhile It blew good. Then I picked up the truck and jumped on the highway and the compressor Locked up. Before replacing all this I was having problems with airflow because the engine was heating up as soon as i turned on the A/C and wasn't cooling well. This truck has never had a good working r134 system and I have had it for 22 years. I know these R4 are problematic I was wanting to know is there a compressor like a A6 compressor that is more reliable and easily converted to fit on this truck. I know when I do replace the compressor I am going to have to replace the Compressor, PF condenser, Accumulator, Orfacice tube, and flush the evaporator. I wish I would have gotten a Vintage Air before they jumped up in price now $1800 I don't have that much to throw at this. I do live in San Antonio Area and I have heard of people getting stock systems working. If there is anyone who knows a lot about getting these trucks A/C going. This is my daily driver

For seasons makes a redesigned A6, I have one on my truck. It works good on the highway not so good at slower speeds. This is compared to the original A6 with same components, and r12. part number 58098.

So are you still running R12? I saw the Orignal air stuff if I could find the brackets and how much refrigerant to put in and what kind of Sanden compressor i think it could be a lot cheaper. but it is cheaper than vintage air

I believe you can buy the sanden bracket alone. Sanden make 2 different cu in displacement sizes, I recommend the biggest 1.
Nothing wrong r134a, except it scheduled for extinction, so stock up now.
I use r12 cause I have it and this and maybe my Chevelle when done will be the only 2 cars that can use.
Thou next time I open the ac system on burb it's getting r134a

the SD7H15 is the big fixed size one. Bigger than the SD5 in the kit linked above. That said it will need a pulley change, or flat fan belt conversion.
not 100% this will work but is best candidate I could find, that wasn't an unknown chinseium brand. So last week I had 2 ac hoes made for our coach neither were over 36" was $100.00 out the door, add the brackets and you are getting close to the kit cost. Thou the kit has SD5 and could be 89cc to 138cc compared to 154cc of the SD7H15
If you do go with the unknown brands they are under $200.00
