My new to me 88 cc diesel has in op a/c,everything seems to be there but the belt. The pulley(clutches?) seem messed up. I checked and the system still has some pressure in it. So is there any way to rebuild the clutches without breaking the system open? And if I do go for a compressor is there anything else I might need. I actually have acsess to freon and the gauges if I need them. Any help is always appreciated! Its just to damn hot!

You can burn up a clutch, but I don't remember when I last saw one. Usually if there is no belt, the compressor is locked or about to go.

If something is loose about the clutch, it should be the clutch bearing. A lot of them are replaceable.

What looks bad about the clutch?

Some people pull the belt to "save gas" but there is a good possibility something is wrong. In what way is the pulley/clutch messed up? Does the pulley turn? Can you jumper 12V to the coil and see if it locks in? You may nee to remove some bolts to get clearance, but you should be able to swap the clutch without opening the system.

All righty just went out and took some recon, the pulley kinda wobbles around a 1/4 inch or so,but the compressor still spins. 12 volts off the battery into the connector on the compressor(coil?) gets a engaging sound. But I dont seem to be getting any voltage thru the actual wires on the meter. So if I can get a clutch rebuild kit somewhere and then put a belt on it that should be my plan of attack?

Well, its a cr*pshoot.
You could put a clutch kit on, start it running, and then find out the compressor knocks under load or seizes up after a few minutes.

You might consider just getting a new compressor with clutch installed.

I just checked, and it looks like your truck uses the R4 pancake type. They work well, but are prone to suddenly seizing.
A new clutch assembly will run between $100 and $130, and an entire rebuilt compressor with clutch will be about $165.
I think you would be better off paying the extra $35 or so.

You will not get any power to the compressor unless the gas pressure is above a certain pressure. There is a low pressure switch, usually mounted on the accumulator, that tank like thing next to the firewall.
Its a round switch looking a lot like a big oil pressure switch with two wires coming out.
You can unplug the switch and jumper across the wires to see if you get power.
