A/C time...

I went with a Sanden 508 compressor on my suburban. Holley makes brackets to mount it to the pass side cyl head on LS engines.
I bought an OEM replacement manifold/hose setup and had it modified to adapt to the new compressor. The expansion valve, orifice tube, condenser, accumulator, pressure switch and blower relay are all new as well.
Soon I'll replace the front blower motor, it doesn't blow as hard as it should. My rear blower isn't wired up yet, when I replaced the whole chassis harness I lost some of the wiring for it so I'll rewire it with the OEM switch and a relay.

Gosh, I've never looked at photos of it, i need to get rid of all those "made in china" stickers.

Sanden 508 and parallel flow condenser with all new components. kwik performance bracket. Blows ~55* in 105 heat with FL humidity.... It'll get down to sub 40* at night! Windstar fans wired to both run with A.C. The sanden is night and day over a factory system.

my fans are wired up to kick on with the a/c as well. keeps the head pressure down. i get 50-55* vent temps at 100+ outside, 40ish at night.:thumb:

That's what I like most about it. It may be hard to believe, but I like to stay as OEM looking as possible.

Same here, wherever possible. Most of the stuff on my suburban is my opinion of "how GM should have done it."

Is this possible to add on my stock 1991 Burb? If so anyone care to give this noob a parts list?

Summit racing "Sum-340600" is the compressor I'm using. I had my hoses made at All-hose in north Las Vegas. I'm using a Holley mounting bracket for my 5.3l. They might make one for an older engine too.

I highly recommend getting the biggest parallel flow condenser you can find and installing it at the same time.

this one keeps coming up. AC Delco 156960 Condenser

I'm running a spectra condenser from a local radiator shop, its was only $108. It was doing fine until I tried tightening a fitting and cracked the high side line on it.

Interesting, what do you suggest I do?
