A little backstory I have a 1975 k5 that I'm rebuilding with a 5.3 ls. Currently I am installing the under dash stuff. While I am not going to be getting the A/C going for a long time I want to replace the things like the evaporator core and receiver/ dryer accumulator while I have everything apart. My question is there a better version of these parts for R134a or would the stock replacements suffice?
Any handy tips while I am at it?

Most new stuff will work with r134a. I don't think those things you mentioned will matter. The condenser and compressor are the only major things imo. Oh, grab a new orifice tube...the blue ford one supposedly works better with r134a. I can't remember the part number.

I would hold off on the receiver dryer until you are ready to charge it. It has a desiccant that will get ruined if you leave it exposed too long. At least keep it capped.

Sounds good! Ill just start with a new evaporator core for now and get the rest later down the road. Thank you for the heads up on the dryer, I didn't know that.
