I am wanting to remove the a/c on my 75 K5 - however it looks like the heater is tied into it. Here in AK a heater is very much needed. Anyway to get rid of the a/c and still keep the heater? I could really use this space for a snorkel. Thanks for any help.

You need to find a heater box off similar year donor vehicle that doesn't have AC. You'll need the control unit, heater box and core and some if not all of the venting underneath put can't remember how I did my venting. Pull the AC stuff and put the heater stuff in its place. Then you will be left with a hole in the firewall. Get some sheet metal and put a cover over it. Your done. Makes for a lot more space. If your going to run a snorkle you might be able to work a tube through the left over hole.

Is this just some sheetmetal riveted to the firewall. If so what size sheetmetal.

I'vw gotten wind of this too and I am waiting to see this secret spy sh$t before I tear into my truck and tear it up this winter. /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

16 gauge piece of sheet metal from Home Depot, then just used a pair of tin snips and sheet metal screws from the same place and thats it.

Since we're on the subject, I'll play. It really saddens me to see the UAV get cut up. I really miss the old days of the UAV. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

thanks steve it looks awesome. I did that about a month ago and was toying with welding it up but that looks like it worked great. Did you snip off the ends of the screws. Man did that add a lot of room in my truck

i took the whole half off, cleaned it up and cut it to size at home then just put it on and bolted the box on there makes it a lot easyer /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
