And how many on under there? lol. I figure my truck being 1984 w/120k miles has some worn out body mounts, the truck hasnt been off roaded too much , so its not beat on. But I think LMC has them cheap, is it worth the efforts or not. Im not doing any body lift, itll be stock.

My second question:

Has anyone done or seen a cab over roof rack on Blazers. I dont want to drill into the fiberglass top. Ive seen some short 3x5 racks around, If you have done this, how bout some pics?

The only hard part about swapping body bushings is getting the old bolts out.

My truck is pretty rust free Id spray all the bolts pretty good b4 hand. Is it a matter of unbolting and pull the old out and putting the new in? Any jack work required?

Yeah there is jack work. Best way is to loosen ALL the body mount bolts, then remove all of them on one side, jack the body up just far enough to get the old ones out and the new ones in, install new bolts and tighten (just snug tho) then move to other side. Once all done, go back and tighten ALL bolts down to spec.

I've seen a few small racks running around on the hard top of k5's. I built my own full length rack for my burb :D

The mounts with blind nuts hidden in the floor can be a bitch. If they're rusted too bad the nuts break loose inside the floor & spin. The only way to get those out is to cut holes in the floor from above and hold the nut. The rear carriage head bolts can round out the square hole they're in if you don't keep pressure on them when loosening the nut.

My rack is a Con-Ferr, 36x54 or so. Raingutter mounts slightly modified so that the two halves can't come apart. Pics are oldies but goodies...

Looks good. Is there a way to get it to sit lower, Seems like it sticks up about 6-8inches from the roof to the bottom of the rack. I dunno if its just the design. etc.

That's as low as it can go with the supplied mounts. I'd guess it's 6" above the raingutters. That tire is only a 32x11.5/15...

If you are going through the trouble to remove the body mounts replace them with polyurethane mounts. Not too hard to find them from a private party in new or almost new condition to save on cost.

I had two gotchas - I just finished my energy suspension system body mounts (poly's) today. You may have to pull the gas tank to R & R position #5 mounts.

Also, be careful when you jack the body up "a little" that the body doesn't move. I used a poor method (in hindsight) because my jack was not tall enough. The jack moved, which caused the bady to shift towards the driver's side just enought that I couldn't get one bolt back in. What a PITA to get it lined back up.

All back together with new grade 8 bolts.

I took a peek under my truck, I think I found all the mounts. My question now is this. how do you get the bolts out, looks like the pull up from the top, is there anywhere from them to come out at? Or is this where jacking the body up comes into play? Couldnt that tweak things jacking the body up? ALso how do you get to the 2 rear mounts/bolts. It looked like there was a hole in the frame to access them, but when I looked, there was a brace/bracket in the way. B4 i even order the parts, I want to find out what im in for and if its worth it. I was just changing them cuz of GP (general purpose) and thought it might help in the long run. If its that big a PITA, ill pass. lol.

The two sets in the back (#4 and #5) pull up. Pull the carpet back and you'll see the top of the carriage bolts.
