First of all, to all who read my last post, I'm sorry for freaking out, and snapping, not gonna get into everything that's going on, but I'll just leave it at that, hope you guys can forgive me for that.

now, my truck has a few more problems, and I hope to get some help.

When I bought the truck, the rear window was messed up from some kids a few years ago driving through the alleys and shooting peoples windows with BB Guns, while I was in autozone last night, somehow my window collapsed, I don't think it was anyone, just the wind, and it was only being held tegether by duct tape, I'll obviously need a new one, but is there by chance anyone on here who can tell me the proper way to replace it? I don't need to screw this up.

and I recently replaced the windshield wiper switch, it was working whenever it wanted to, the new one did the same thing, and now it's not working at all, even if I wiggle it like I used to with the old one, after installing the new switch it still needed to be wiggled and didn't always work, heading into the rain season like we are I'd like to know what could make it not work at all before I dump a lot of money into it, although the motor itself is all I see that could be wrong anymore.

thanks ahead of time guys :)

cant tell you how to replace it, but only input is a suburban window is NOT the same. Good luck.

As for wiper switch, check motor, linkage, and wiring, test light make sure it has 12 volts at the motor, then go from there.

The rear window sits in a steel sash, and is held there by a rubber strip. I recently re-attached a window to this steel sash using construction adhesive inside the channel and letting it sit until it cured.

The sash itself has two tabs with a pair of holes each. The regulator has a couple of arms with nylon rollers riveted to them. There are two bolt on channels that the rollers run in, and the bolt on channels bolt to the two tabs at the bottom of the window sash.

You will need to remove the inner and outer wipers at the top of the tailgate, as well as the two triangular shaped rubber deals at the top corners of the gate. This will allow the window to be properly removed and re-installed.

Check the guides for the window itself. They are bolted to the inner sides of the gate, and the bolts for those are on the extarior sides of the gate. Leave those bolts a little loose and your final step will be to run the glass all the way down and snug the two bottom bolts. Then open the gate and sung the two top bolts a little, close it and check for relatively smooth window operation...if good drop the glass, open the gate and give those top bolts a final snug.

The side tracks should obviously be in one piece, and ideally have the felt runners intact.

If your truck has the intermittant wipers, it might be the wiper delay box that is fried and causing the issues. My 83, if i use the intermittant wipers the delay box overheats and I lose the wipers completely until it cools down again. For now i just don't use the delay wipers, but replacing that is on my list of things to do. The delay box is under the dash almost directly under the steering column.

Be careful going in with that sash- I'm not really sure how mine is still holding together, it's so rusted. If I ever had to replace the window, a new sash would be necessary, too.

x2 with the intermittent wipers. My intermittents don't work, but I can still get high and low. Also on my to do list.

check the wiring connection at the motor. the harness is short and can lead to a intermittant connection. it pulls the connector down. lift the plug up a bit and see if they start working.

Kansas, I am glad you told me that, I was about to run and buy one in the morning, now I've gotta find a K5, it's a catch22 with the K5s here, fortunately, but at the same time unfortunately there are sometimes a good selection of them.

I need a lot of parts, and this summer i'll be running a restoration of the body, it's not near as bad as my ford pickup is, we call it swiss cheese for a reason.

Rusty, I do not have intermittent wipers, wish I did.

1BEATK5, I haven't had the time recently, it's been a madhouse, especially playing Mr.Mom the past 2 weeks.

I'll keep you guys posted as to what I find for future reference.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input.
