before (when I got this it was bone stock - no lift etc). I had never done any engine work, lifts, etc. both my k5's blew engines within a week & a half of each other so I really had no choice.

I ended up with the following mods on this before I sold it
True dual exhaust with gibson mufflers
Hooker super comp headers
VDO guage cluster - electronic speedo for easy calibration
Greasable bolts on all spring eyes
4" DBS lift (actually more like 5.5")
Swaybar disconnects
Steering box brace kit
Rear disk brakes (with e-brake rear calipers)
14B FF rear axle (8 lug)
D44 front axle (8 lug)
4.10 gear ratio
350 internally balanced all stock except comp cam #12-249-4
rear sliding windows with black frame
16x10 rock crawlers wheels (5 - black)
Big-O XT 16x12.5x16 (5)
Rockrod tie rod

these gauge pic's have been posted before I won't post all of them here...

after I sold this vehicle I saw it running around town for a while, and always broke down. the only problems I had on this after I got it done was I blew the aftermarket coil twice. not sure what the guy did to it that ended up with it because I saw it parked at the mechanics all the time.

I bought this from a guy back east, and did the engine job before the other one, and I didn't like the engine build near as well. it had vortec heads, 454 TBI w/ 350 injectors, summit headers, and a crane cam. I ended up with about 15k in this vehicle. I bought it from a guy on this board, and he shafted me royally on this.

when it came to wiring, any part of this vehicle, my hands literally touched it, and it was nothing but problems. I finally sold it to a guy up town for cheap, and he son totaled the thing less then a month later (I sold it about 6 months ago after it sat for 4 years, and I never licensed it once).

it came with a killer paint job, and that was it. it had a 305 block in it that had such a bad compression ratio I got passed by VW buses going up hills, and the tranny was blown on arrival. the vehicle had been stolen, his wife later emailed me, and it had been stripped. he put it together as cheaply as possible.

while it looked good I hated this vehicle. I would of enjoyed it a lot more if I would of put the engine together more like the other one which was a lot cheaper, and ran a lot better. everything was stock except the cam, and engine was balanced. this never ran right the computer I'm sure never was quite correctly programmed (used fastchips).

What Rear calipers did you use on the first one that had ebrake? I need that for mine.

caddy... don't remember what year, but they were hard to come by either early 70's, or late 60's I believe.

cool paint man:D

the paint was the only thing that came on the vehicle that was in good shape... :doah:

I remember that...who did you buy it from again?

Rene

I remember how pissed off you were...sorry man! If it makes you feel better the K5 I dragged home from Texas was a crap deal too. The VIN and title didn't match and I ended up having to part it out. It wasn't stolen or anything, someone previous to Rocko had lost the title and had to get a new onw. They misread a 3 as an 8, and I happened to be the first to notice about a week after getting it home.

Rocko was pretty much no help at all.

Rene

ouch... lol - I ended up having about 15k in that one of mine, was a lemon the whole time, and sold it for 1.3k. I didn't feel good about selling it for any more then that :doah:

I remembered you had problems with that one, but didn't realize you ended up having to part it out that really sux.

I parted that one to fund a trip down to San Diego to pick up a '74 Blazer from Talldogg. Brought it home the same way, easily as clean and rust free as the one from TX.

I ended up having to sell it 8 months later in order to make a mortgage payment and prevent the bank from foreclosing on us. 2 days later I got re-hired at my old job. :doah:

I gave up trying to bring up a rust free/straight K5 from the southern US after that. lol

Rene

oh - thats too bad... but don't give up the good fight yet hope springs eternal right?
