Ok, Well now that the Blazer is good and healthy again, I got to thinking about some of the issue I've had.

My Blazer is sitting on 100% stock suspension, other than new shocks.
and It has 33X9.50R15 Dean M/T's on it now, and there are no clearance issues, except at full articulation and lock. even then it's not bad.
Issue is that tall narrow tires work great on Jeeps, not so well on half ton trucks, there is a lot of leaning and it gets a little scary under hard braking. Not to mention it looks a little funny, the tires are a good 4 inches tucked under the fender.

I found a set of 33x12.50R15 Interco Super Swampers with about 60% tread on craigslist. So I called the guy, and he said he would trade for a chainsaw or Jeep parts, I have many of both.

So my questions are, is that a good trade? And do you think it would take any trimming or lifting to make those fat tires work? (the SS's are on Daytona wheels with a fair bit of offset, My 33x9.50's are on the stock white steelies)

It really depends. My blazer would not fit the 33x12.50s I have now whatsoever before i lifted it... Like a quarter turn of the wheel and they were rubbing...

But I know guys that have blazers with the "tow" package etc, that have an extra leaf in each pack, and 33s on there rigs, look like how my 31s looked on mine before....

Really depends on what you want whether or not its a good trade.

33s will probably require some trimming.

Its very minimal. Put them on and just start trimming after you run into things.

Like Adam said some trucks springs are more worn out than others so you may need more or less trimming than some

Dont trim.Do what I did. Lift it and spend lots of money on driveshafts and brake lines, steering, crossmembers, bump stops, and all the other fun stuff. Way easier than a sawzall :haha::doah:

Well, Like I said, I have 33x9.50's on it now, and in normal driving there is no rubbing whatsoever, and there actually more of 33 and 7/8's.

I don't know if mine had the towing package or not, it has all the wiring with the plug, but no reese hitch, and I have one off of a 84 K10, and it won't fit with the bumper on.

Right now it also has the original 8 inch wide white steel wheels.

These Swampers are on what look like Daytona wheels, and I'm guessing they're 10 inch. They also have a lot more offset (wheels are deeper, I know there is a true term for it, but I forget)

I would put pictures of them and the Blazer up, but I don't have those fancy abilities.
EDIT: wait, I is smerter than computer

This is a pretty old picture, but not much has changed.

A two inch lift wouldn't cost ya too much. Then you wouldn't have to cut the fenders. Your truck looks pretty good and not too much rust. Even if you have the tow package an the extra inch of lift that fat a tire is going to Rub off road at full stuff and lock.how bad is the question.

I thought about that, And it looks like a 4 inch Tuff Country EZ-ride kit cost $120.

What are the opinions about the EZ-rides? It looks like a decent set up but I don't know.

And thanks, there isn't hardly any rust at all, the worst bit is under the battery tray, where there is about a 3 inch hole.

Besides going custom ord alcan springs this is what I've seen people using lately. 4 inch you should have no problems. At that price it ahould get ya what you need. Just remember you will need extended brake lines and a steering arm or drop pitman to correct the angles of the drag link. Also longer shocks. At 120 I'm guessing that isn't the full kit with all the axcessoriea needed.

I had 33x12.5 on my 84'. with just a nip and a tuck from the inner part of the fender.

I didn't figure it was all there, I have longer shocks, but that's all.

If not, how much trimming would it need? What's bad is I remember my Dad trimming the fenders on tons of old Chevy's, I should know.

Not a bad trade, I ran 33/12.5 on 10 wides years ago.

I had 4" springs up front, and add a leafs in the back. I loved the look.
