I just recently got what was hopefully a deal on a 78 camper special with a 454. I used to do some work for a guy out in the boonies and would use this truck, so I already had driven in plenty. He just used it for pulling a horse trailer but got a new one. Not in very great shape but its solid and I picked it up for 200 bucks with a full tank of gas. So far I have done the plugs and wires and removed the a/c stuff in the engine bay to make some more room. Now I want to remove the A.I.R. stuff. Since I wont have to pass emissions with this truck it wont matter. Is there anything I will have to look out for while doing this? I just dont want to mess anything up so if anybody knows how I should go about this let me know. btw there's a metal fitting on the driver side line thats rusted open anyway so I doubt it even works. thanks guys

I used to have an '86 that we pulled all the emisions garbage off of, because it was a pita and the cat was Missing when I bought the truck... All was fine for a few years and then the part of Pennsylvania I live in started doing emisions testing... Now my truck is limited to less than 5000 miles a year due to not having the emisions controls, just saying this because I never thought it would be an issue... We could of course put it all back on and been fine, just something to think about.

smier- pull the speedometer cable off before 5k miles. my county is the same way.

you can get rid of the emissions crap, just be sure to plug off everything.

nice, off it goes then. Yea were lucky here, if the car is over 25 yrs old then no emissions, some people that live out far out enough dont even have to smog new cars.
