Started installing running boards on my crew-cab today ... found a set of cab boards for the six pack on Ebay, NOS from the early 90's ... and also grabbed a set of generic ones for the opening bid of $1 for the bed ... gotta love Ebay. (Of course, shipping from WI to CA was $35 ... but $36 for a set of brand new running boards isn't bad.)

Went for the diamond plate look, thus JJLaughner ... though it is aluminum, not steel (thankfully! Installing steel ones would suck ... as these are unwieldy enough without being heavy!)

Pic shows them nice and shiny -- the bling factor, RJFGuitar -- but obviously not matching the rest of the truck. Fear not, gentlemen, after drilling I took the boards off and the matching camo is drying in the garage as I write this :D

...and yes, running boards are an atrocity for trail rigs, but this truck is 2WD, and has a 164.5" wheelbase, so it high-centers when I look at it sideways. I have a Blazer for off-road :D

Which, the camo pickup, or the camo (not yet started) on the Blazer? :D

The K5'll get a blue/white camo job, *after* I do the shackle flip, springs, swaybar disco, shocks ... oh yeah, half doors... OBA, prolly ... rear disc... ACK, so many projects!

The running boards you chimp....I think that'd be the only thing that would make a board look cool...:pimp:

Well it's too cold for this chimp to go outside and put them on now ... so you gotta wait till tomorrow to see the finished product.

Hell, if I can camo a lumber rack, I can camo the running boards, right?

And yeah, I'm not usually a fan of them, but I find myself scrabbling to get at stuff in the bed now and again -- and I'm 6'1" and the truck is stock height, so don't give me crap :) ... so I figgered boards' be the ticket. My last gf was 5'10", but I usualy seem to date short chicks, so boards have the advantage of making them feel welcome as well.

As welcome as a girl can be in a 21' camo pickup ... which, if I can find the right one, can be very welcome.

As opposed to the AAA lady, who when I called for a tow, refused to believe that the truck was camo patterned. ::Sigh::Okay, ma'am, it's brown ... and tan... and black. Is that better?

For Fumes, to prove that running boards can be okay...

:D

Say no more. I know, I know, but it ain't a wheeler, and it does look good. :) Also took the tint out of the back windows -- evil purple crap, it was. Next up is replacing the front bumper (gonna use that extra Warn Classic, plus maybe some diamond plate :D )
