A new truggy is born...

I almost [darn] myself when I saw you posted again. Your rig kicks a$$! Good work. Sorry for my lack of knownledge, how is the gas tank held up? Is the angle iron squeezing it up? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have a piece of angle welded to the frame that the flange on the side of the tank sits on. The lid has another piece of angle attached to it. It sits halfway onto the flange and is bolted to the angle on the frame. It clamps the tank in place. I can unbolt the lid, lift it off, then lift the tank out of it's resting spot too.

Those pieces of angle you see with the allen bolts are now welded to the bottom of the lid. /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif

Hey, when you gonna weld that angle to the side of the tank? /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Looks great. I was actually thinking of making the gas tank sort of like your cover. But with 16g angle forming an inner frame (and mounting the baffles) with 20g sheet outside. Gives a good base for a nice weld, and the tank sealer should be able to deal with the rest. I built my filler neck using roll bar tubing scraps and it has a bracket that bolts to the frame. Fits tight to the cage, but has no connection since they (frame and cage) move in different directions. And I can hit it hard with no damage... This is the best shot I have of mine.
