Are front and rear differential gears cut the same? Example - are a D60 front and D60 rear gears interchangable, or atleast the same cut?

What are reverse cut gears and when / where / why are they used?

How do high pinion gears (like a Ford D60) differ from from standard gears (GM D60). I know the pinion is higher, I want to know how the gears or cuts of the gears differ.

Thanks,

Eric M.

Reverse gears :

Some manufacturers did that so the front axle wouldn't be technically driving in reverse as the truck goes forward . Keeps the coast and drive side the same front and rear I believe .

On most GM trucks , due to being cheap , and they figured we'd hardly use em in 4wd as often as 2wd , they didn't bother the expense of reverse cut gears .

The actual D60 questions I do not know , don't have one , people wanting them priced us regular folk out of the market .
