Putting this one in here instead of the lounge, because its techey.

Some guys stole some timber from my company back in Oct.. We found out about April, and have been working on getting reimbursed ever since.

Had a meeting up in the woods this morning at 8. There is this huge semi-failed housing project that we own about 40 acres in.

Miles of winding crisscrossing roads, nothing but woods. There are probably2 or 3 thousand lots in there, most of which are sold, but there might be 100 houses.
Yankees bought them for retirement, and most died before ever moving down.
Nice area, lots of deer, trees, you could probably get a lot cheap.

The roads are big wide grades well maintained by the county.

I'm about to run late if I don't hump it pretty good. Got caught behind a log truck on the way and I'm running behind.
Drifting my 250 around the turns and curves.

Cranked it left for a turn at about 40, got around the bend, and went to straighten the wheel.
No joy.
My first thought was that I had slung a belt and lost my power steering. Then I realized that there was no slop or any movement of the wheel at all.

Just locked tight.

OK this is interesting.

Foot off the gas, check ahead. Nothing but level ground and lots of blackjack oaks.
Blackjacks? Meet bumper.

As the first of the trees are being sheered off and crushed, I discover that if I go farther to the left, the wheel will turn.
Not only that, but it will then turn back with lots of grinding crunching noises.

So, I make a wide sweeping turn out of the blackjacks, hit the road and get back on the gas.

Hey, I have a meeting to make.

Next turn, it tries to lock in a right hand turn. But this time I do the little right then left move and it crunches back straight.

I make the meeting, discuss what we are going to do, then start taking the steering wheel off.
I notice that when I open the door, the key dinger goes off. Which in interesting, because I have not heard that in 10 years, ever since I quit using a key.

Fortunately the wheel is not frozen to the steering shaft, so I get it off fairly easily.

There is a small stupid little hex head self threading screw that is supposed to hold the nylon and brass key dinger tab on.
Somehow it has backed out, fallen over and gotten involved with the series of slots that the steering wheel lock engages when you turn the ignition to lock.

I take the screw out, drop it in my shirt pocket where it will not be a problem any more, cut the dinger piece off with my pocket knife since its just flopping around in there, and tape up the end.

Put the wheel back on, and I am ready to go. No pics, not much to see. I do still have the little screw if anyone wants to see that..........
