Do you guys find that beer helps or hinders fabrication?
I only ask because often in conversation, alcohol will help in the formation of an idea, which may be abstract and normally something I wouldn't think of (design of fabrication), but then the expressing of that opinion or idea can sometimes be challenging. Tonight I was at the perfect level of drunkeness so I could think of the idea, and if I thought of what I wanted to say and was carefull about how my mouth worked, I could express it well and clearly. So for me it would probably be depending on how much alcohol was involved.

I try to refrain from the wobbly pop until i'm done what I'm doing. I fab for a living though so I'm pretty used to doing it straight...:D

any mind altering substance's should be used after all the work is done . No tools should be operated during altered state as it could lead to serious injury or death . write your ideas on paper and when you are sober do the work . :D

yeah, I don't think welding is the thing to do while drunk. I'd use some other types of tools... but you could seriously **** yourself up if you make a booboo while welding. Save the brew for after you're done.

wobbly pop
 I like that

Although drinking "the wobbly pop" while dreaming up an idea works for me mainly because im always drinking w/ friends and we always think of new ways to skin the cat, I can in no way build anything while drinking. not just because of safety, but Its like i loose any skill i have as soon as it touches my lips.

i usualy get off task in the garage when on mind altering substances:haha:

but my truck hasnt fallen apart while driving down the road so i must not be that bad

You might solve the problem on paper while drunk, but that's as far as I would go. My welding looks bad enough without the aid of beer.....

that has got to be the DUMBEST question i've ever seen posted here. a little common sense would tell you that a substance that alters your ability to make rational decisions, and impairs your basic motor skills isnt going to turn you into Jesse James suddenly. :screwy:

sounds like a feable excuse to drink made up by an alcoholic.

I like to snort a big fat rail of meth and chase it with 4 shots of Jager that usually gets me in the mood to fab.:doah::haha:

the only thing that helps me figure out a fabrication problem is time and friends. by talking with other people about an idea a solution usually pops into my head.
being intoxicated on any level while doing anything in the garage just makes things take longer.

btw i'd be alot more worried about using cutting tools or a torch while drinking than welding.
