Recently I purchased a 89 k5 w/350 & 4speed manual:D

It came with a 4" rough country suspension lift installed…My question is what do I have to change to remove the lift blocks and just use leaf springs?

The front & back axles are 10 bolts with 8.5 ring are they worth swapping gears if the biggest tire I'm going to run at this time is 33"? I believe as it is now has a stock gears my guess would be 3:08.:o

Is there a way to increase throttle response for a TBI setup? ( or is it wysiwyg?)

Thanks,
B

1st off welcome to the site.sounds like you have a good start to a fun truck.
2nd .for lift you have 2 choices.a shackle flip that will reverse the shackle and give you 4 inch lift that way.or you can buy 4 inch lift springs.either way you will need new ubolts because those are way too long and more than likely fatigued from the lift blocks.
next if you are only going to run 33s i wouldnt worry about gearing yet.with a manual you dont really have to worry about lugging the tranny and overheating it like a auto tranny.it would probably be cheaper to buy junkyard axles with the right gearing you want then to regear the ones you have also.easiest thing to do if you just bought it is to give the engine a full tuneup with new wires, cap, rotor, plugs, fuel and air filter, unless it has been done recently.at least look over everything real well.throttle body spacer would help some.most people say getting a better chip made for the compter help a lot to wake up a tbi.not sure on price though or who you would go through for it.

I couldnt pass up the truck paid 1g for it body is in good condition the only bad parts is I think it needs the rear seal replaced, 2 tires & replace a busted up steering column (damn theives prior owner) then I'll be on the road.

above post is on target .

you can buy rear springs to remove the blocks or the shackle flip.

the springs can be done easily but the shackle flip will require grinding off rivets etc on the frame but rewards more flex. just depends on how much work you wish to put into it or can afford to have done.

stock gearing is find for 33s should last awhile . My opinion it is a waste of money to gear up stock 10 bolts. If you decide you need better gearing or larger tires , invest in stronger axles first . much cheaper to do it just once. Because the 10's WILL fail , in 'x' number of hours lol

I have an 89 blazer with TBI 350. has a chip installed MSD plugs wires etc, Headers electric fan ..... It also has a throttle body spacer.

It had one on it when i bought it . I removed it and could definately notice the difference . so I bought another one to replace it . I dont believe it adds much powerwise or gonna give you miraculous increase in fuel economy , but what it did do was make the motor snapier; especially from idle . the normal chevy hesitation is gone.
