A snaping noise

I have a 1986 Blazer with original leaf springs. After I complete a turn there is a loud snapping noise. I know it is not a locker because I do not have one so I think it is just old springs but I am not sure. I am going to get a lift soon but is there any way to stop the springs from snapping in the mean time if that is even the problem.

Have you checked to make sure everything was tight(U-bolts, driveshaft, etc) Also check and see if all your u-joints are good in the front driveshaft and your wheel joints.

It may be a bad wheel joint!

Go thru the whole front end (assuming it's coming from the front) and see if you can make anything move essesivly (sp?). You can do this by jacking the front end up and use a pry bar (make sure you don't pry on any boots er stuff like that). See if you can wiggle the tire at all. Does it wander on the road at all? If so, maybe you have bad tie rods. You might have bad ball joints. You just have to go thru and see if you have anything loose. I would assume that if your springs were binding, you'd have a really rough ride and you might hear a sound when you hit a bump. Just my .02 cents. Good luck!
