I have an '86 K5 Blazer, and my AC blower motor does not blow air as hard (volume/amount) as I remember it doing 20/25 years ago. Plus the cars and trucks of today will blow your hat off your head if you're not careful. So, I'm not sure I have a realistic expectation for my old truck to come close to todays AC systems. Regardless, my truck blows less air than it used to... period.

I just read an article on a different message board where the guys talked about upgrading the stock 80's blower motor to a 1994 Chevy Truck blower motor. Have any of you tried this before? I would not imagine it would fit, but I was wrong before like that time I gave a lot of my money to that t.v. evangelist... And who could forget that time I invested the rest of my money in Enron... And of course in believing Elvis is alive and well and living in a small town outside Las Vegas. I'm still pretty sure I bought 10 gallons of gas, a pack of Marlboro reds, and a box of Chiclets from Elvis at a Stop-n-Go off I-15 about 6 years back. Anyhow, any help on this topic would be appreciated.

Not sure about your area, but field mice, wasps, hornets and the like are bad for building hotels in hvac ducting around here if something sits to long.

Check your ducting. The connections can come apart over time, especially if someone has been messing around behind the dash, and you could be losing a lot of air behind there.

It's also a couple decades old, probably getting a little tired, just like electric windows do. I imagine there are a variety of motors that could fit, depending on the level of modification you are willing to do.

I swapped to the later motor and cage, changed the relay, ran a bigger wire to the relay, put an additional ground from motor to body and still found my biggest improvement sealing the ducts and adjusting the blend door. :waytogo:

I recomend just start taking it apart to asses what is going on. It really could be a number of things that cause the poor airflow. The ducting, as mentioned, is one. Pull the blower motor and inspect the fan - I bet it is caked with dirt. Look at the wiring...
