I am getting conflicting info on oil in ac compressor. Do you have to drain oil out and refill with pag oil that it calls for?

What are you trying to do/fix? That makes a big difference in what needs to be done on a recharge.
replacing a compressor after a failure? Replacing just one component? Just trying to refill a system?

Got it running and blowing cold
the clerck told me I had to drain and fill with oil . And I asked why cause that’s stupid

The mfr doesn't always put the correct amount of oil in a compressor.
It is always best to drain, and then refill with the oil you are using, to the correct amount.
The amount in a given compressor and the system total are not the same.

Ya I had a professional come and help and he charged the system
