Hey guys,
It's been a few years since I've been on the site, so hello again. I've got a quick question regarding a all new AC system, and I'm hoping someone can assist me. Here's the situation:

I just finished installing a new parallel flow condenser (134a), new Sanden SD 709 compressor, dryer, o-rings, and orifice tube. The hoses are only 3 or 4 years olds, so they should be good. I'm about to connect up all the parts and pull a vacuum on the system. Assuming it holds vacuum, does anyone recall how many ounces of PAG oil and 134A needs to go back into a clean/new system? I have a 1986 K5 Blazer.

not a published amount of either, for your situation. So add 1 oz to accumulator, 2 oz to condenser, the compressor should have a required amount of oil listed in packaging. Please drain compressor of any oil, that was in compressor when shipped, add correct amount of new clean oil. 2 reasons, 1 you don't know how much oil is in the compressor, to little to much ? 2 the ac oil could be contaminated with water, or maybe someone opened box and compressor and decided to return it later.

Did you flush the old parts ? if not oil will be in these parts, new orifice tube ?
This is a factory ac truck ? if so there should be a sticker on the evap case with required r12 charge for factory set up. Converting is @ 80% r134a from r12. Since your system is modified I'd start @65% and then use the pressures and evap, and ambient temps to fine tune the fill.

I appreciate your quick response. Yes, I'm spending this morning flushing out the system before I put a vacuum on it. I know it's a hodge-podge of parts and deviations from the factory setup, so I'll be cautious and keep an eye on gauge pressures as the system charges. Thank you again.

I just finished completely revamping my 89, 8oz of pag 150 and right at 3lbs of r134a. That per the tag on the side of the blower box. Well I mean it said 3.25lbs of 12 and 8oz of mineral oil.
