I am looking for information as to the type of fittings and why the factory constructed the lines as they did. I am trying to trace the specific name of the fitting that the ac lines tap into the front ac. I know that they are an o-ring fitting and I am assuming that they are 'gm specific' but other then that I don't know what they are called. Does anyone else?

Attached are the pictures of the lines that I am wanting to replace with barrier hoses and attach them to my truck body with these mounts

I am also going to wrap the hoses in a protective wrap, I love this stuff it takes a lot of **** and just grins back at you

All of you that have repaired the rear what did you do? I have the front system operating, it's not bad if I'm on the road for more then 15 minutes, but it's still on the uncomfortable side. I really want to have the rear ac up and running by the end of the month.

What's your ideas?

I bought new lines from GM, my cost on them was only $160 for the whole deal, list price was probably about $240. That was 5 or 6 years ago though, not sure if they are still available. I hope so because My other Burb probably needs them.

more pics and explanation!

More pics of the hoses that I am replacing.

I have done this specifically in the suburban thread pages for the simple fact that the blazer and jimmy guys don't have this equipment and don't have to worry about this issue. The more I think about it though maybe I need to ask for help from the ac techs of the brotherhood for them to look at this specifically for their insight. Yea, I'm probably going to get flamed but I put on my flame proof jock strap so, flame on! If I offend anyone I apologize. Just got my nose on a scent and I don't want to loose it, and I want to get all hands on deck that can be proactive about my issue.

Thanks for your time and patients,

Bob

All of the searching that I have done I can only find the small tube. The larger one is discontinued. This is why I decided to do what I am doing. I don't know if I want to put on aluminum tubes when I can use a 'specialized hydraulic hose' that can take a lot more crap and will be mounted in a nontypical senario!

I asked a couple of guys that I knew back in my hell raising days that worked at gm as salemen to look into finding me an oem rear ac housing. I heard back from one of them, he told me that a dealership in Oregon has one and that they only want $300 for it. I thanked him and headed to pull a part in Indianapolis. Should have known, they had 2 trucks with unmolested rear ac units. Biggest pain in the ass was taking it apart in 100 degree Indiana humidity. Got it torn down in 10 minutes, this one has no broken screw holes. Thank god. Couldn't tell until I got it uncovered. Looked at both of the trucks ac lines that run to the back. Both of them were really holely. Makes me want to make hydraulic lines even more. I guess the aluminum lines would be ok for only running on the road, but with what I do with that truck at the cabin, I am going to play it safe. I got an estimate for the hose from dunnam rubber in the form of an email. They are located in Greenwood, on the south side of town. It's a far drive from my home, but if I go there after work, then it's only a 5 minute drive, 10 if I have to sit in traffic. The smaller hose is $2.91 per foot and the larger is $3.89 per foot. Fittings are right around $8.00 each. So with the hoses being roughly 16' long the small one will run $62.56 and the larger will run $78.24 including fittings. Am I doing my math right? That's 20 bucks cheaper then the factory aluminum lines and they can take a rather hard abrasive impact and still hold together. Wonder what the wrap cover will run me, I'll ask Charles in the morning to address that for me.

Hmm, mine came as a set... I didn't have to order them individually.

When you ordered yours did they charge shipping too?

No shipping. When the dealer got them in, they delivered them to my shop. It's been at least 5 years though.
