AC Question

74 k5 factory AC mixer door at right side kick panel only opens when I turn the temperature control to max cold, is this correct ? I think it should be the other way around.
what could be wrong.

No that is correct. MAX is designed to pull the air from inside the vehicle to help cool it a bit more than the outside air. Newer vehicles have a recirc setting, ours just have Max AC.

So is that the only time that vent door is supost to open ?

That is correct. Non-AC equipped vehicles could open that vent up for some fresh air, but AC equipped don't have that option.
