Since my truck took the hit in the front end, my ac is still charged. Also, my condensor took a pretty good hit. Im gonna try to change the core support without removing my condensor and running it till it blows (summers almost over, my compressor made noise, but I dont want my lines to go bad). Ive still got a full charge and would like to save it If i can, but I dont wanna drive the truck anywhere and I dont know where I could get a reclaimer. any ideas?

Eventually id like to have all the stuff to charge the ac myself and the right way.

Also, how long can the reclaimer hold the freon? 134a by the way.

You need a recovery machine, vacuum pump, gauges with the automotive connections, and a recovery bottle. You first pull a vacuum on the recovery bottle and then use the recovery machine to pull the refrigerant from your AC system and push it into the recovery bottle. You can store the 134a for years. As cheap as 134a is though, I would just take it to a shop and have them recover it for you. Then when you are ready to have it charged, have them pull a vacuum and then charge it for you. You could do this several times for less money than it would take you to buy all the equipment to do this yourself. Just saying:waytogo:.

I paid 125 to have the seals changed, drier and orifice tube installed, then charged the first time. Then the second time just refilled and vac checked for 60, I know the guy. just I cant drive it across town. Cannot. Fan in the shroud lol. Guess ill try to swap it without removing condenser. Should be interesting. next year I plan to swap to a newer style condenser and a sanden style compressor, Just not worth doing it right now (my r4 is making noise at times)

134a seems to be going up in price lately, not sure what it is here in Arizona, but when I was recen tly back in Indiana, it was nearly $20/can..

Well since you know the guy, if he can take an empty recovery bottle and pull a deep vacuum on it for you and let you borrow a set of gauges, you could probably suck out at least 90-95% of your 134a with just the vacuum in the bottle. I wouldn't worry about the few ounces left over. De minimis:waytogo:.

Didn't know the stuff was so expensive. :eek1:

I've somehow acquired 3, 30lb bottles of r134a. Dunno where they came from....
