what is the best way to clean a accel air filter?

HEY Fords!!! how many flushes does it
take to get rid of you

You talking about the foam outer part? Use some 409 or a similiar type of cleaner. Just spray it on, let it sit for a minute or two and hose it off. Or use Dawn dishwashing soap. Mix some in some warm water, let it soak for a while then rinse it out with warm water. Either way blow out the moisture with an air hose or let it air dry then reapply the "oil spray" that came with it.

Here it goes

1) Remove Accel Filter
2)Replace with K&N Filter
3)Pat yourself on the back for doing the change.

....and it's basically, just that easy.

I did just that the accel was roached due to a previous
backfiring problem. I am now a K&N owner. WOOHOO!!!!

K & N's are by far the best. Have been ruunin them on motorcycles for years. They finally came out for the automobile market and are a big step ahead of anything else on the market. I am a little prejudiced, but what can I say. Any company that will give you a million mile warranty or a lifetime warranty can't be too bad.

Are you talking about the triangle shaped one that is open on the top? If so, throw it away if you ever plan on going offroad. One of my friends blew up his motor by sucking water down that air filter on an offroad trip. And yea, they burn up the second you have a carb backfire.
