I am in the process of putting my pedal back in and have ran into a little problem. It has been two years since I pulled it out so I have no clue how it goes in. ANd my assembly manual doesnt have this particular set up in it. Any one know how this goes our has a pic of theirs. My book shows just a small plate going over the pedal on the plastic retainer. But mine has a whole assembly with it. I have attached some pics and one a couple of the restore. Also a before shot. You can see where it bolts to the floor in the pic. I know everybody likes pics. Any help appreciated. Trucks a 71 and the white is a before pic

The part on the right bolts on top of the pedal at the hinge. I guess it keeps the cable from getting anything tangled in it.

The second pic shows it upside down. The three holes for the bolts are on the bottom.

It seems like it has something else that bolts too it. I dont know what though. Can't seem to find anything. Do you have a similar setup, perhaps some pics?

Here's a pic. There's also a plastic triangular part that bolts between the pedal rod (against the firewall) and that bracket. That must be what's not looking right.

started in 70 or 71 for that set up. and as pointed out you are missing the plastic inner piece. the good thing is chevy used the same pedal set up with very little change up into the 90's in the trucks.

Maybe this is 71 72 only?

'69 (maybe '70 also) used a gas pedal assembly that connected to the floor with small ball-socket looking bolts and pivoted at the floor, not from up under the dash.

BP71K5 do you have a picture of the upper part of the bracket? Does the cable feed into something on the bracket? I just dont see the point of this bracket if it does nothing but bolt the peddle to the floor. What are those three holes neer the middle on the top of the picture for?

lmc

Here's a page from LMC and it says this is 71-72 so here's my confusion again. They have a blowup and it just shows a little plate.

I can take another picture, but the bracket just goes over the top of the cable (it doesn't touch it). The extra holes don't attach to anything up there on mine.

It does not appear necessary to function, but it looks like it protects the cable from anything that might fall down from inside the dash. Not sure what would be falling down to require protection, but maybe I'm missing some parts.

Yeah its a little weird that we both have this but nothing goes to it. Seems like there has to be something missing. But screw it, if it works like it is im going to bolt it up. The pic would be great. Would like to make sure im feeding it through the firewall right. Shoot me a pic of your truck too. Would like to check it out.

Here's a couple more pics. I guess there's a lot of wires up there and maybe they didn't want the moving part of the pedel to fray any of those? That's my best guess for now.

Also a pic of the truck before all the repairs to the body and drivetrain.

Doesn't look bad. I had to replace my doors and one fender. Had a bunch of crappy body work hidden. I guess I will just bolt the bracket in like it is.

Yep, crappy body work on mine too. The other fender was a replacement that didn't fit very well so the PO readjusted all the radiator support mounts to get it lined up better. After I put this straight GM fender on, I had to realign everything else to make the body seams all line up again.

I had to grind the fender to get it to fit and I had to cut the bottom of the door about a half inch to fit it. It was some work but other then that they fit pretty good. All new metal so no rust. Im getting down to the basics. I have the drivetrain in and am going to try and get it fired up in about two weeks. I pulled the engine out of my Nova and it had a little water in the oil. I pulled the intake and I think it might have been the intake gasket. Hoping it wasn't a head gasket so I dont have to tear it down. It only has 100 miles on it so I dont think its the head. I also rebuilt the transfer case and had the tranny rebuilt. Its takin me almost three years to restore so the fun part is finnally coming.
