The accellerator cable on my 72 has been robbed from something else and screwed to the firewall with sheet metal screws. The holes are all enlarged and it has been screwed down in several differant places. I would just order a factory cable but I have a fuel injected ramjet engine with the throttle linkage on the right front of the engine making it much longer than normal and the linkage has the barrel end made of lead rather than the carb setup. I would prefer not to buy a 75.00 braided cable online if someone knows a cheep way of doing this. Can a person have a cable made with the correct ends and attachment hardware? Also I appreciate your reply. I am very new to forums.
Yes you can have one made, but a custom on from a shop is probably close to $75. Try inlinetube.com
The cables are nothing fancy. if you can find a generic speedo cable replacement kit from a speed shop, you can cut it to fit and usually have different fittings for the throttle end. I used my 71 cable sheathing and replaced the cable with one from an 89 TBI when I converted mine.
Not sure if the throttle body end is the same but on my ls swap I used a cable from a 97-98 c/k pickup the fire wall and pedal hook ups are identical and the cable is plenty long.
