So I have to trouble shoot a bad wire for the lock system. The question is if I were to remove the dash pad are the wires exposed and esay to access? Trying to do this on my back between the seat and the steering wheels is not working out so good...
Removing gauges gives you a bit of a hole to work through, but i've never done anything but lay under there. Most of the wiring is towards the bottom anyways.
Love the idea of removing the seat. Never thought of that. Although, in my case, the burbs have a huge hump under the seat, so not sure it would help in my case.

I've had seat bolts tear rusty chunks of floor out, before they ever came loose more than once!....
You can get at the dash wiring on a 73-87 truck somewhat from the glove box opening, you can pull the door and box off or just pull the upper lip of the box away from the dash and flip it open all the way...the removeable section under the steering colum can be removed and will allow at least a better peek at the wires..
Removing the dash cluster gives the best view, but its not my first choice ,I hate pulling the dash out..
I'm 6'5" tall,so I know how bad it sucks trying to do any under the dash work on those year trucks..(but they are a cake walk compared to many newer vehicles!)..
