I am looking for alternator brackets, power steering brackets for the short water pump big block. I also need water pump and crank pulleys. Does anyone know where I can get this stuff?
The engine is a GM performance parts ZZ502 gen 6 block. It is going in a 1986 Chevy short bed with Dana 60, 14 bolt, TH400, NP205.

Thanks,
Mike

??

assuming you ordered this motor or it fell in your lap, what the hell are you doing with a performance big block if something as simple as purchasing brackets stumbles your mind??

ebay, jegs, craigslist all will be happy to accept your wallet.

My mind isn't being stumbled.
The short water pump is what is making the brackets and the pulleys expensive and hard to find. I am also trying to keep this project on a budget. I know big block and budget don't go together.
I am hopeing someone on here has done this before and found a cheaper way to do it than what I have found. I have found brackets but they are over $100 each. I have only found one set of steel pulleys for the short pump.
I was hopeing for the power of the internet thing where people help other people, not give them a hard time.

I am a working man and my pockets are not that deep, especially now.

Thanks,
Mike

I have looked through the catalog and only found a serp. belt setup. I want to run a v belt setup. The serp. belts fill with small rocks. I don't think the belt will last very long on a mud truck. I didn't want to spend that much money on pulleys and brackets.

Do they sell a v belt set up also, if so what part #'s?

Thanks,
Mike

March Performance has what you need. Look in any Summit or Jegs catalog.

For good brackets but steel check out alan groves components. They make good brackets for accessories and I am using them on my gen VI 454. If the water pump is killing you then get a long one, they're pretty cheap.

first time ive ever heard someone say they want to run v-belts instead of a serpentine. the serpentine belt does get little rocks from time to time, but can easily be cleaned with a flat blade screwdriver while the engine is running. i did it all the time at the dealership.

I've run V belts on circle track cars for years and never had any problems. Serpentine is great but if he is trying to stay cheap then the setup won't be. Most of the aftermarket setups use multiple serpentine belts as well, so I don't see the difference between that and a good v-belt system.

I'm almost 100% positive you cannot run a short water pump on the later BBC engines as the balancers are thicker and you will not find a stock pulley anywhere that will line up with the crank pulley.

Why are you wanting a short pump anyways?

ok, well in that case..:D

what is making you decide on the reverse or short water pump?

also while not the cheapest solution, search cog pulley and big block on ebay and you will drool!

I would rec hitting a few junk yards, with gas prices and being summer I see more and more big blocks in junk yards there is a yard local that had a 98 burb with a thrown rod..had the pullies and the works on it still.

there out there!

The engine comes from GM Performance Parts with a short aluminum pump on it.
I just found a crank pulley from GMPP for the short WP, I may need to run that pulley.

Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone.

Thanks,
Mike

Well, i stand corrected on this one. Looks like GM changed back to a short water pump on the later BBC's
