ok...
AC# PF25 oil filter short style
AC# PF35 oil filter 1qt long style

AC# PF454 oil filter dura-guard short style
AC# PF1218 oil filter dura-guard 1qt long style

So my question is what's the diff between the the duar-guard and the standard filter..It seems that pf25 and pf35 are for early model gm's and the pf454 and pf1218 are for later model, but both style will fit both small block and big block of the same years..Does dura-guard filter better...or what...

1218's replace the...35? Whatever is stock for say a 1985 K5 with 350 originally, is what the 1218 replaces. If you say a 35 is replaced by a 1218, I buy it. :) The Camaro's use the 454 I saw, so that makes sense, 25=454.

The new part numbers have anti-drainback valves, which the older ones don't.

I used to buy the PF 35L filter. It had a synthetic filtering media, able to catch smaller particles.

I was told the 1218's replaced this one. I am uncertain if it has the paper or synthetic element.... :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

im aware of the PF35L.....yes your right it has synthetic media...but the 1218 does not it's a paper style filter.. the pf35l is about twice as much...PF35L is probbaly the best filter you can get from acdelco but again it is a bit expensive compared to paper filters...
