Anybody try them? I recommend you do it! I can't believe the difference between the regular plug and these. I know one thing, I will never buy the regulars again.

1) What brand/model of plugs did you remove?

2) How old were they, and what was the gap when you pulled them?

3) What specific differences did you notice?

I normally use the regular acdelco plugs. I always gap them at 45. I noticed it was a smoother idle and my tach doesn't jump around as much. The engine fires up faster and just seems it's got more power overall.

A new brand/type of plugs always seems like an improvment because they are new. To know for sure, you have to buy two new sets and try them out. Of course, the hassle is rarely worth it just for the comparison.

I'm not knocking your assessment - your truck does probably run better now than it did before the change. I do, however, agree with Blue85.

Most of the specialty wizbang plugs are sold ight next to the snake oil, IMO, at a pretty hefty markup.

Old plugs were at 45. Not to sound rude or anything, I have had this truck in the family for ever so I know it's history. But I do believe they made a difference, maybe I'm hallucinating.:dunno:

I've tried out a set of upgraded plugs once and didn't notice much, but maybe it differs on the condition of the truck.

are you running a stock iginition system, even the plug wires?

I'm running a Accel supper coil and to tell you the truth I can't remember about the plug wires.

I just put a set in my '77 along with a new set of Taylor wires. So far I like them, but the old ACs were in bad shape, so it is not a good comparison.

I have always used Rapid fires in my 406. I can't honestly say they are a whole lot better than anything else, but one thing is for sure. With the Rapidfires you know you have a good quality plug that *should* last quite a while.

Run the rapid fires in my rig ( 6-71 blown big block )
MSD - 6 box with a pro billet dizzy...

plugs work well...

from what i've seen, specialty plugs are as good, no better than regular ones, unless the engine is modified or worn out. that said, if you like them, cool. i have a throttle body spacer on my dd and i like it, even though lots of people say they're useless.

Rapid Fires were designed actually to go along with a multiple spark ignition system, like an MSD box or some of the late model vehicles. They are supposed to "flash" faster for the multiple spark.
