I have been trying to do some research on this and haven't had much luck (found one thread where a guy did it, but his pic's no longer work on the site and he didn't describe what he did).

So wondering if anyone has a link or pic's if they have done this. Essentially I have a 95 NV4500 that is still the external slave cylinder that hangs low on the passenger side of the bell housing. And have access to the slave and hard line to go up to the master. Obviously the 95 gm master is different and I will be using the normal 85-91 hydro master cylinder, but what have people done to adapt the 95 clutch hydro line to the 85-91 master cylinder?

Like I said, if someone has a link to a thread or pics, please post up and I will quit waisting everyone time :D

One tube is essentially 1/4" and the other is 5/16" IIRC. You can use a Swagelok tube adapter to connect the two together. The tube adapter will easily splice both metal and plastic tubes together. The fitting itself is rated for over 20,000PSI. I've personally seen them take over 30,000PSI before the tubing they were connected to burst instead of the fitting coming loose. They are all we will at my industrial plant.

I did exactly this to put an external slave NV4500 into my K5. I used the stock 85-87 hydro master with it and the throw / pedal feel was perfect.

treat it as a reg old brake line .

2 nuts and double 45* flare kit and 1 union .

I helped a guy do this on his . been working great since.

Thanks for the link Russell!! Do you have any pics of this adapter installed? (meaning installed on the rig)

Unfortunately not. I never took any pictures of it... I ran the stock external slave line pretty much up to just above the steering shaft. I cut the rubber part off the 85 hose and just spliced the two together there, plastic to metal.

some of the slaves on 88-up body style were metal lined up and over bell housing area to flex hose then master .

so check what style you have first .
