adaptors for ls metric thread sensor ports

there is a few ways around this stuff . but if you want bolt in and go here ya go .

h2o pass side head rear port to 1/8" pipe

not sure on mechanical h20 big long temp probe.

and this is a auto meter gauge sender.

there is a guy over on ls1tech i have seen that modifys stock gm single wire senders for the metric threads to keep old gm gauges.

Roger, I spent an hour or so searching around last night with no luck on the water temp probe. Looks like best bet for me is to drill and tap the water pump.

for the temp sender I use a sensor off a 98 LS1, it is a 3 wire temp sensor with the correct metric threads. 2 of the wires go to the PCM and the 3rd wire is the same a any GM single wire sender.

as for the oil pressure, I run a mechanical gague and just drilled and tapped the stock sending unit to 1/8 NPT to hook the line too

You can only run a mechanical oil pressure off of the block on ls and lt motors only if you plug the stock port, and next to the oil filter there is a way to drill into the oil galley and tap it. But honestly with the advancements of electric gauges now-a-days there really is no need to run a mechanical gauge unless you have a 800 hp big block, then a mechanical water is totally necessary.

Back on track, there is no way to run a mechanical water temp gauge on a LS or LT series engine made by GM at this time.

also be careful on some of the LS motors the oil adapter will either be 12x1.5 or 16x1.5. The water jacket will always be 12x1.5. For some brilliant reason GM made a few years of blocks like that.

Edit: I'm pretty sure its the Early LS3 series motor that uses the 12x1.5mm oil adapter.

I am pretty sure it is the wire on the bottom, and yes it will run the factory gague, I have mine hooked up to one of theses and it works fine

It's easy to run a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Just use the autometer 16x1.5 to 1/8th npt adapter and your all set. It's running a mechanical temp sensor that can be tricky.

Which oil pressure sending unit did you use, I was trying to find a kit with the gauge and sending unit but not having any luck.

I used the autometer sender that come with my gauge kit.

its a big fat can style . its tight but clears the intake area . suggestion of adding a wire to the sender first before you button it all up.

I added the wire to my sender before body reinstalled on frame. but my motor is set back 1.25" over stock location.

I sold my old motor and didn't pull the sender off, this project is killing the wallet.

Just go to the parts store and buy one for your 87 shouldn't be more than $15 or so right?
