What does it take to add shoulder belts to the rear seats on my '89 K5? I want more than lap belts for the kids.
Thanks!

So I have looked at this pretty extensively. I have no clue if they made the top on the 90 and 91 stronger for when they had the belts mounted there. But other than just bolting them to the top, I think the best way to go here might be some type of harness. Looking into the floor mounted ones for my kids. Not sure of the physics of them to be honest.

Other than a cage and putting a universal 3 point mounted off the cage I am not sure what to do really.

Hopefully just build a cage and mount belts off it but thats a ways off.

So in all reality it appears I am no help at all

I thought about the cage, but I was hoping to be able to somehow retrofit the belts from a '91 and someone here had done it. I'm going to run by the junkyard and see if there are any available.

Thinking you might need the hard top that goes with those seats belts too...

Otherwise, if you feel like fabricating, some people have retro fitted 2000 and later Tahoe/Burb 3rd row seats into the rear of K5s. They have the seat belts integrated into the seats, much like my front seats from a similar vintage Silverado.

This is what I'd like to do.

you need the 90-91 top as it is molded for the shoulder harness and has provisions to bolt them on. this what i had to do to get them. there is added reinforcement molded in the top for that purpose.

I have 2 kids, and want to get there car seats in the 91 blazer, and theres no wear to clip the straps from the car seat.

My daughter will eventually be in a booster seat, the only problem is when the cap is off there's no shoulder belt.

I see a full roll cage In the near future.
