Just seen for the first time...
The Trans American Tail... about 3000 miles off hi-way from east to west.well almost east the 4 whell part starts in N.c. transamtrail.com.
 
It looks like an adventure. I had some buddies do it on dual sport bikes a few years back.
 
Couple hundred $$ to download maps of public roads and trails.

That was my impression as well. Though it would be a service to someone wanting a pre-scouted route. No more worrying about lost time or dead end trails.

It doesn't fit my whimsical driving style, but I know drivers who would prefer knowing everything ahead of time.

It's pretty hard to be whimsical when you don't have alot of public land and you might be 1,000s of miles from home.
It would be worth it. Then deviate as you desire.
 
As I was going home and a. "rover" started to push me you know the guy,4 lights in the gard 2 yellow 2 clear, winch, ,roof rack,well I was thinking going mad max, then got home and look at the calendar, ,thanks LARRY ....u saved me
