I have the block drained of coolant. I removed the engine block heater( where normally a freeze plug goes) This drained all the coolant.

How should I add coolant back in so i don't get air holes?

Also how can I flush it?

How long should I leave the block with out coolant? My concern is that it may start to rust.

pull the bolt looking things out of the bottom of the block. These are the lowest point coolant can be. If you haven't done this and it's a stock motor, there's probably crap clogging it and you'll need to poke though with a screwdriver. If the water pump is off, take a hose and run water through the block on each side where the pump goes. Fill the radiator a few time and dump it. That's about it for what I've done. I'll normally drive around with water and dump it a few times. Then add distilled water and coolant.
And as for bubbles, just add coolant to the bottle. Also add it to the radiator. Turn the engine on and watch the water drop. Once the T-stat is open, it will prolly drop even more and you'll see it coming into the radiator. Just add till you can't anymore. Seems to work for me.
