Anyone ever done it? How much of a PIA is it? Parts needed, etc? Any help would be appreciated. 40 mile daily commute is getting to me without cruise control lol

Yep, I added it. I used to think less is better. Not so when you drive a distance.

What year are you dealing with? ~1982-1989 utilized a VSS off the speedometer to determine speed, previous used a transducer in the engine bay.

Components are pretty basic though...vacuum switch/electric combo switch on the brake pedal (and clutch if you are manual) vacuum servo in the engine bay, turn signal stalk with cruise control, and the assorted wiring. Standalone wiring harness, so a pretty easy retro- or re-fit.

I added mine. As stated above it is a straight forward project that you won't regret doing if spending time on the road. The floor board area on 81-91 had a dimpled area where you need to put a hole for all the harness and vacuum hose, has a large grommet on the harness to fit the hole. If you find one in a yard, make sure you get all the brackets , brake switch and bracket, module mounts to the brake mount on right side. the fun part is fishing the column for the cruse stalk.

Feel free to ask any questions along the way. I f you have the chance take lots of pictures of the locations of everything before hand.

Fyi, the vss in the older vehicles looks like this.
