Wasilla AK,
I just bought a 91 V3500 ex- airforce truck 350/4l80e/NP205 The trucks allmost perfect except I want to add cruise could I yank the cruise stuff out of any fuel injected GM or is it 91 specific with electronic speedo ??

It's a bit complex, but not hard. :)

You'll need to get the cruise to interface with the DRAC, since the speedometer signal is as you mention, electric. The good thing is, the DRAC was designed with the "old" speedometer output, 2000 pulses per mile, which means ALL of the old cruise control stuff works the same, you just need to feed the cruise box with the 2000PPM signal from the DRAC.

This post should have about all you need to know about DRAC. I added cruise to my truck (which now has the electric speedo) so I know exactly what you are talking about doing. Hopefully all the links still work.

As some additional info, I might be inclined to play with the stepper motor cruise setups. I started seeing some when I was looking, didn't realize at the time that it would have probably been just as easy to use one of those.

I'm not sure whats up with mine, but it sometimes "hunts" for the right speed. They are supposed to be accurate to within .25MPH in correcting cruise speed, but mine applies the throttle too fast, then off fast, so it hurts economy. But it's not 100% of the time. I have a feeling it's in the cruise box...the cruise setups are pretty darn robust, but when problems arise, many times it seems to be the box. Luckily they are almost all identical from what I've seen, so extremely plentiful. Mounts/holes for all the components should already be in place, they were in mine.

Thanks , I'll check out that link I really like having cruise I can deal with out power windows and locks but I gotta have cruise and A/C

I had to have cruise, and I had to have power door locks. Not a big deal when you put the truck together yourself, but hard to find ready-made the way you want! :)

I want the windows and door locks fo this truck too but I'll probaly wait until I do the cummins swap next winter

they can be in the interior I've seen it over a 100 with 99 percent humidity
